    Hi,

Myself and four housemates have a twelve month lease on our flat, with approx. twenty other flats in the building but we're the only ones keeping it on next year too.

Would it be fair of us to ask for a reduction in rent or for a shorter term? The estate agent (not the landlord) had originally told all the renters it was only for nine months so it was a bit of a shock when we discovered the three additional months of rent...

Apart from that we're really happy with the place.

    Any ideas?
    :)

No harm in saying "Is it OK if we move out on X date?" don't mention the three months unless they bring it up.
