Whenever I hear 'in tragic circumstances' etc, without any more info I always assume its suicide

It said in one of the papers I read today that he had indeed committed suicide.

Pity. I can see at least 3 people in that clip who I'd rather were dead.

Sending him to a secure institution for year rather than prison would have perhaps been the better course.

A guy that gave out to the Plank back in November 2006.
Does anyone have a link to this alleged death? Google comes up empty.

    Wiki
    * Paul Stokes: Pat Kenny was surprised on 24 November 2006 when an intruder, Mr Paul Stokes from Monkstown, County Dublin, interrupted that evening's edition of The Late Late Show. The man managed to break on to the set and confronted Kenny as he was about to begin interviewing You're a Star judges Thomas Black, Linda Martin, and Brendan O'Connor. He shouted insults in Kenny's face, saying, "Howye Pat! You're a censor! How dare you! Gay Byrne and you are ... [grunt] ... you're insufferable arseholes. You arsehole, you piece of ****, you piece of ****," live and, ironically, uncensored on air as the guests and audience watched on. The startled presenter uttered "thank you" repeatedly. The show was prematurely transferred to a commercial break while the man was removed from the set. When the show came back on Kenny told the viewers 'Sorry for that rude interruption' and continued with the interview. Stokes was arrested and later released from custody. The Today FM presenter Jenny Kelly famously went into labour whilst laughing at the incident on her television screen, her initial intention having been to "bore the baby into arriving".[55] It was later revealed[citation needed], that his daughter is a member of The Late Late Show crew. Shortly after the initial incident, Stokes rammed his vehicle into the front entrance of RTÉ in Donnybrook; no-one was injured.[56]
Stokes was also reported to have stood outside Kenny's house shouting insults[57] and to have painted threatening messages on walls near the house [58], although a charge of harassment connected with the case was dropped[59]. Paul Stokes was later sentenced to two years in prison for ramming the RTÉ entrance[60].

I only saw it on the Vincent Browne show this morning - it was on the front of one of the tabloids.

Jesus... Everyone knows that when they correct spelling/grammar on an internet thread they will invariably make a spelling/grammar error.

    That's just overkill though.

No, he did however take his own life unfortunately. Very sad, he clearly was a little imbalanced, it's a pity he didn't get the help he needed.

I am conscious of not distastefully disclosing any details regarding his demise; but my source tells me it involved our main river and a throwing action.

Where did he get the gun I wonder?

Man of the people though and very articulate.

No, he would have been out. He spent a year (or the best part of it) inside though and given the fact he was clearly unbalanced (with specific delusions) I remember thinking at the time that hospital was the place for him.
