SPDs

I know this is terribly old-fashioned of me but I've been in a monogamous relationship with Shimano SPDs since I started road-cycling about 12 years ago. I was just about to order some new ones but to my horror, I can no longer find double-sided ones (and I've looked at Wiggle, CRC, Slane Cycles and Ribble). There are A520s for touring but that's not really appropriate for the road bike. Did I miss something? Have traditional SPDs been phased out?

All this time and I've been using MTB pedals on a road bike.

I am covered in shame.

Why did no-one ever point this out? I've been out on a couple of spins: did no-one think to take me - gently - aside and point out what I was doing. Or was it simply too embarrassing?

dont worry i use spds on the commuter everyone prob. thought you were a noob

, used look's before spd's were invented so tend to use them on the road bike, but i think it was said somewhere around here that decent racing mtb shoe isnt that much less stiff than a ordinary road shoe

I use SPDs on most of my bikes. There is little downside to be honest, and you can walk in the shoes, etc. A road system is only really necessary racing (I use a road system on my race bike, track bike, etc.)

I wouldn't be, alot of commuters use them, Chainreactioncycles supplied them with my flatmates road bike.
