    I've recently bought a Hauppauge Nova T card dvb-t card.
    I've trying to get the Irish DTT cahnnels both through Media center (window 7) and hauppagues own software. I haven't been able to even see the Irish DTT cahnnels? What am I doing wrong?
    In media center I select Ireland and unmapped digital - it scan and finds nothing! I'm using an external antenna which works perfectly with my standalone box so i know i have signal! Any ideas?

    What source(type of Ariel) are you using, do you have a good enough signal, Is there reception in you're house ?

    It's a Nikkai dvb-t aerial. I get reception perfect for the standlaone box.

    I don't know much about that particular aerial is it a portable indoor aerial ? I don't know much about windows 7 as I use XP + Mediaportal on dedicated HTPC's , Is there Irish specific tuning details or can you scan using a UK all regions setting ?

    I know in my own home in some rooms using a portable indoor aerial I had good reception while it other rooms like the sitting room it was very poor even though I'm in an area with excellent DTT coverage. I ended up installing a high gain attic aerial.

    If you have coverage using a standalone box I'd suggest you move the PC with card install to that location and rescan. If your PC is in that location already maybe you could try a different software like DVB Dream (freeware) and scan using a UK all regions setting. If this doesn't work maybe you've got a faulty card.

    Sounds like a driver issue on your card with Media Centre. Does it recognise it as a DVB-T card? Have you updated to the latest driver as there may be a newer Windows 7 version?

    Ok update;

    I've got a usb mpeg4 dvt to test and that works but only if i get it out the window, however this (the usb one) works instantly on my laptop in friends house so i think it's a signal issue
    the hauppauge pci card is recognised and working but sees nothing even with aerial out the window (however aerial out the window is giving only the bare minuimum of signal for standalone dvt box and usb stick with magnetic antenna) - can someone confirm one thing - a regualr dvt mpeg 2 card in windows 7 selecting ireland shold automaticsally 'see' (during the scan) the irish dtt broadcast? is this true? I'm aware i'd need a mpeg4 codec for playback, now all i have to do is bloody detect the broadcast!!

    it should, but its much more sensitive to signal weakness than an stb (usually)
