Former station in Broombridge?

I was going past Broombridge on the train from Sligo on Saturday and it looked like there were the remains of a former station there, with part of the platfroms there still. Was there ever one? Why would they move it to the hovel that they use now?

You may have seen the remains of Liffey Junction Station. Broombridge was sited in its current local as it was accessible.

Liffey Junction was the junction between the line to Connolly and the line to Broadstone.

The current station offers access to both Cabra and the Dublin Industrial Estate.

Hmm, these remains could be the cause of Broombridge's anti-social problems. I think we should knock them down asap.

The old station and start of the Broadstone alignment are fenced off. There's loads of space between the Broombridge station and Liffey Junction station behind the industrial units for messing.

Which the local skankbag population take full advantage of.

I'd blame the people causing the trouble, before I'd blame an inert object like a disused train station. The whole of the Harcourt Line was closed down for decades and I never recall major problems with anti-social behaviour with it.

That said, the area around Broombridge does look like a deserted urban area near Chernobyl, and could benefit from a clean-up and some urban renewal.

Was a huge busy freight station too. My uncle showed me photos he took there in the 1960s and the place was absolutely packed with wagons.

The railway kind. There are still loads of wagons in Cabra West.

This has come up before, there were zoning and planning objections currently the developer who didn't get their way is trying to sell it.
