    Dear Big_G

You have accused me in your closing post in the thread I started entitled “Dental Treatment in E Europe of accusing three posters of lying. Balderdash! Nothing could be further from the truth, though I’m not in the least bit surprised that you have manufactured a pretext to close the thread. Clearly the dental profession in Ireland is not interested in free speech, dissenting voices or impartial advice.

What I accused you, Fitzgeme and georgieporgy of, and I stand 100% behind this accusation, is of being propagandists for the Irish dental profession. Propaganda is not lying, and for the most part I think that all three of you post the truth (though I must say that I find Fitzgeme’s claim that “6000 patients were treated by Irish dentists for problems associated with dental tourism in 2009” stretches credulity). What the propagandist generally does is to present selected elements of the truth in a way that supports the perspective that s/he favours. I don’t think that any of you would disagree with my contention that this is what you are doing in this Forum. You yourself told me that “You generally won't find completely impartial advice here”. Its a bit rich to criticise me, and close the thread, for coming to the same conclusion as you!

There is obviously nothing illegal in what the three of you are doing on this discussion board, but I would question whether or not it is ethical. Clearly you have no obligation to promote the interests of dentists outside of Ireland, but you do have obligations to patients and to the community. Where someone genuinely seeks impartial advice I would have thought that the spirit, and perhaps even the letter, of the Code of Ethics of the Dental Council would have obliged dentists who wished to engage in the topic to offer a balanced view.

    Humm....

Link to origional thread for anyone looking in on this http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055882151&page=2

My figures are accurate.... there are 2500 dentists in ireland and they would only have to see 3 patients each a year each for that to be true....and there is many more than that In my experience......anyway the study will be published soon.

Our advice to you had one major problem....it was not the advice you were looking for and that seemed to aggravate you considerably. Maybe you will find the answers you want on the consumer issues forum, the bargain alerts or rip off Ireland forums.

Again good luck with your decision, but in the future try to keep you tone on internet forums a little be more civil, remember you are getting free advice from dentists and dental specialists who donate it in their own time.

Posting a new thread to continue a argument from a lock thread is also not on. If you have issues with me or Big_G PM me or him.

    Big_G how long to ban????

    Dear Sir/Madam,
It would be unethical for me to recommend you attend a dentist in Eastern Europe due to the substandard nature of the treatments that I have seen other patients receive there. That is about as impartial as I can be. I couldn't care less whether or not you decide to take that advice, and to be honest I really wouldn't like to have you as a patient because you seem to think you know more about my job than I do.

Good day sir/madam. One week ban I think is in order, due to previous insulting, condescending behaviour and criticism of modding in the forum. Complaints should be directed to the Help Desk.

From the charter. Black and white. I should know, I wrote it myself.
