OK, I had a good root through Boards and Google and haven't really found anything on it..

Bottom line is, I'm charging my iPhone twice a day now. It's crazy! Once I unplug it, within minutes I'm down to 90%. This morning, I left the house, 45 mins later I was in work and the battery was down to 76%. It's now at 56% and I have received 3 texts and done nothing else with it.

Is the battery just goosed? Or am I missing anything? I haven't changed any settings. So it seems to have just started out of no where.

Sorry buddy, I should have mentioned I have a jailbroken phone on 3.1.2 and rely on the unlock for Vodafone.

I got it at the end of last July, not that old.

    Some tips from the internet

    * Keep your iPhone off the heat. It works best from 32° to 95° F
    * Update your iPhone with the latest firmware (unless you’re a jailbreaker)
    * Turn off wifi if you’re not using it (Settings > Wi-Fi and set Wi-Fi to Off)
    * Turn off 3G if you don’t need it (Settings > General > Network and set Enable 3G to Off)
    * Turn off song EQualizer (Settings > iPod > EQ and tap Off)
    * Turn off Bluetooth (Settings > General > Bluetooth and set Bluetooth to Off)
    * Turn off Push Notifications (Settings > Notifications and set Notifications to Off)
    * Turn off Location Services (Settings > General > and Location Services to Off)
    * Turn off Push Email (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and set Push to Off)
    * Fetch new data manually (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and tap Manually)
    * Don’t check too many email accounts (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, choose an email account, and set Account to Off)
    * Auto-adjust Brightness (Settings > Brightness and set Auto-Brightness to On)
    * Don’t play too much games
    * Go through a full charge cycle each month (charge the battery to 100% and completely run it down)
    * Set Auto-Lock for the screen to 1 minute (Settings > General > Auto-Lock > 1 minute)
    * Turn off Vibrate (Settings > Sounds and set Vibrate to off)

Hey lads, thanks for the pointers. I've done all o the above and have done so pretty much from the start. With the one exception that I rarely let the battery die. Although the way the battery has been it's died over night. I've since this morning charged my phone (after it went down to 12%) and it's back down 48% again with very little use.

Restoring is an option if I can get my hand on a 3.1.2 but won't I have problems with syncing it with iTunes after?

Let the phone die down completely. Put back on charge until the charging symbol is gone, then hold the home and power buttons down togetheruntil it restarts. Then put on charge all night. Worked for me.

Have you installed anything from Cydia lately?

I have a 3G on 3.1.3 jailbroken. 3G on wifi on location services off and push off.

I installed SBRotator and then deleted it my battery started to drain fast too fast.

I would have 17 min use time

24 hrs standby and the battery would be @46%

There was another update to SBRotator the other day, I installed it and then deleted it now my battery is:

    Usage 56 min

    standby 1 day 23 hrs

    battery @ 70%

I would say an incredible difference from before.

So maybe it's something you installed from Cydia?

hmm, thats a tricky one alright, do you have ssh installed, that drains the battery a good bit. What about push for email, switching that off helps too

But I think the best solution for you is to do a few full drains, and 12 hour charges. By this I mean, charge to phone for 12 hours, use it till it dies, then charge again for 12 hours, drain, charge for 12 hours drain. You phone will eventually get back into a cycle. Other then that, I would recommend you buy a new battery. They are fairly cheap, and not too difficult to install, although taking out the old one is a bit of a nightmare.

I did actually install a reflection for the apps in the dock, I wasn't using it but I just removed it. Also made sure ssh was off and anything else that I didn't use.

I have location services and push on for mobile me. I've had those going for weeks without any issue though.

Is 3.1.3 unlockable? I didn't think it was? Or is that an O2 sim?

I'll give the full charge then drain a go! Won't take too long to do with the speed the phone is loosing power!

3G 3.1.3 is not unlock able through jailbreaking.

Well, I uninstalled that reflection app and I've started to do the charge / drain . Hopefully this will sort the battery issue. Thanks dudes.

I was having same issue on jail broken phone.
2 days ago i installed Battery doctor and did the full cycle charge.
also i had 6 countries added in the weather and i deleted all of them and just left dublin, there is a huge improvement in my battery life since i delete cities in weather ( i think it keep refreshing )
    my usage stats now:

    Unplugged from charge last night.
    Usage 4 hrs 59 minutes
    Standby 16 hours 10 minutes.
    battery 30%

That includes lots of browsing, mails, calls and music ( No game).
i would say try deleting the cities and see if that helps.
