I've listened to the album a few times since the end of last week and if it's their last album then it's a great ending to complete the trio of albums.

Dance Yrself Clean is a great opener, from it's subtle, low volume opening through to when the full instrumentation kicks in. Viewing a track that lasts 9 minutes, especially one that introduces an album can be intimidating but when I listen to it I don't want it to end.

"I Can Change" to me would be the distant cousin or lyrical sequel to "Someone Great".

Drunk Girls is the fun, catchy and much shorter in length opening single. The video was directed by Spike Jonze and is as just as fun as the song.

Anyway, I don't need to try to fully review this - just wanted to open a thread to hear everyone elses thoughts and favourite tracks.

Been listening to the stream off their website, some good songs on there. I'd say it'll grow on me. Nice to see his Talking Heads influences are still there!

That video has made me a lot more fond of Drunk Girls than I was a week ago.

I've got the tune stuck in my head all morning.

Kinda reminds me of Franz Ferdiand's "Do You Want To".

Can't wait for the album to be released, for some reason the website keeps crashing on me

Been listening to this album non stop whenever im at home on the net. Cant wait to actually own it. My faves are 'All I Want', 'Dance Yrself Clean' and 'You Wanted A Hit'.
Album gets better and better with each listen. Its early days yet but i can see this album surpassing Sound Of Silver which really is an outstanding achievement because that album is a classic.

Is that high praise or a dislike of Sound of Silver coming through there Lordgoat?

It's aright, I've listened to and enjoyed it a lot, but I'm glad I heard Drunk Girls first, because I hated it so much to start with it forced me to readjust my expectations a little. The video won me over to Drunk Girls completely, but still. This was one of the four or five albums I was really excited about this year, and I think I was a little unrealistic in my high hopes for it.

It's catchy and fun, but there's not one song on it that's a patch on All My Friends, for instance, and any one of these songs would have just felt like filler if they cropped up on Sound of Silver.

Having listened to it a few times, I'd say the second half of the album is where it really gets going. Can't say I was overly impressed by Drunk Girls when I heard it first, but it seems to sound better in context with the rest of the album. Can't say I'm as fond of it as Sound of Silver, or the debut, really, but a couple of more listens may change that.

I'd agree with the drunk girls trend here. I still think it's one of the poorer tracks on the album. Vid is ace though.

Took a while but i'm starting to love it. Dance Yrself Clean and I Can Change are highlights while Drunk Girls and Pow Pow just put a smile on my face. I love that they (he) make this amazing music which, clearly, so much work has gone into but retain a complete lack of prententiousness.

Overall, I wouldn't rate it as high as Sound Of Silver - it lacks the truly blow-me-down tracks like All My Friends or Someone Great - but still a quality album.

I'm intrigued by the prospect of this album. I could derive no enjoyment whatsoever out of their last one but Drunk Girls is a great ould tune.

Drunk Girls isn't really indicative of the album as a whole. If you didn't enjoy Sounds of Silver I fear you might no get into This is Happening either as they share a lot of similarities.

However do give it a go, it's very impressive.
