Set up Astra 28 on an FTA Receiver

    Hi Folks,

I have just purchased a camper with a motorised dish connected to an FTA receiver preset up with a number of French satellites. Astra 28 is not listed among these.

I have aligned the dish with the Astra/Eurobird group (verified by using another FTA received) but I am unable to do a transponder scan for a channel list as there is no signal strength/quality activity.

If I change to some of the listed satellites eg Astra 23 the I do get good signal quality and I am sable to scan for a channel listing but only 7 of the ITV channels get listed and no other channels show.

I have tried adding a new satellite but the default settings do not produce any signal or quality readings. And as I said above can therefor not do a transponder scan.

Any help would be very welcome.

    Dave

I would just like to add to my post above that I have since set up 10714/22000 Horizontal on the Satellite settings for a New Satellite. This has given a selection of Channel 4 stations but no other transponder has been scanned.

Any ideas on what I need to do to get a full transponder list and then a scan of those.

    Dave

You could try a network scan if your receiver supports this feature

Thanks Tony. I'll try that - tomorrow. I have it all put to bed right now. Are those settings OK or do I need to change any of them?

They look ok and you got some channels. You may have to manually add some more transponders before the network scan works, some info on www.lyngsat.com

Good news - got it all sorted. There was a bit of fiddling but with your help all ended up OK. Just got to set aside time now to start deleting a couple of hundred unwanted channels.

I'm sounding like a long playing record here..
But the joy's of a freesat box means no need to delete hundreds of channels..
You can get a bog standard freesat box fairly cheap.
Have a look at them, might save u a headache down the line
