when I try to put a cd with a mixture of songs on to my itunes on my laptop it won't recognise the songs but if its just the same artist and album on the cd it does recognise and inserts the correct name, why does it do this and is there a way around it? Dunno if this is the right place for this or not but any and all help is appreciated (the easier the better, not very tech minded) thanks

Well its kinda like the lotto really. A CD has say ten tracks all at different lengths. Now what's the chances of another artists CD also having ten tracks and all the same lengths. Pretty much nil. So the database that iTunes connects to knows all this stuff and assigns the names etc. Your 'mixtape' CD has a combination of track numbers and lengths that is not in its database. Also when you put in a CD single it often wants you to choose the name of the CD from a choice of a few different artists/CDs cos there's obviously more chance of a three or four track CD having the same lengths etc as another CD single. There's not really a way around this.
