I have a 47" lcd tv, I'm wondering is it safe to lay it pritty much face down on my bed while I connect the stand to the bottom of it?
Is there any danger with the display mixing around or is it grand to turn on right away?(tv will be plugged out)

Getting kinda mixed reviews off google..

You'll be fine. It used to be a problem touted about plasma TV's but it wasn't true then and it's still not true now with LCD screens. Just put something soft under the screen so it doesn't mark it and work away.
I have installed both plasma and LCD in ceiling drop down scenarios where, when retracted they lay flat in the ceiling. You'll be fine.

    Hi Guys

Probably coming too late to this but I'd be very carefull about laying a 47" face down on a bed! Mattress's are not solid, plus quilts, blankets and the like can exert pressure on the screen - mild pressure I'know, but you dont want anything pressing against an LCD screen.

Just my two cents worth - I've seen folks bring LCD's in with cracked screens for repair and it aint a pretty thing...or cheap

    Cheers
    Ash
