street lighting!!

    i live on a house estate and since i moved in 3 years ago we have had no street lighting. the developer was contacted and he said its the responsibility of the esb, i contacted the esb and they said its the developers problem. the street is pitch black and i am getting a little bit annoyed. could someone please advise me who is responsible and who i can whinge too to get the lights on!

    I think it is like the roads. Until the estate is officially handed over to the local authority it is up to the developer to put in the infrastructure.

    As far as I know the ESB provide wiring up to the public lighting minipillar, and anything after that is the responsibility of the local council.

    the estate has also got council houses and affordable houses and they are all occupied, just recenly half of the street lights have being turned off, the estate is pitch black, it is horrible in the winter

    It sounds like the developer is still in charge of the estate and has either run out of money to repair a fault or to pay the electricity bill.
