I have a SD sky sub and the brother has offered me the use of his sky HD box while he is off tripping. So was wondering what FTA HD channels can be brought in on the sky box/dish and do I also need to ring up sky and get the my card paired with the HD box?

    Thanks

    BBC HD
    ITV HD

Both of these need to be tuned into Other Channels.

Luxe HD is on the EPG but is not that interesting. Hotel reception tv really.

If you have any premium channels then you will need to pair your card with the box.

When you say premium do you mean movies/sports etc.

Basically if your card isn't a FTV card and if you're receiving channels like Sky one you'll have to get the card/box paired. It's no big deal Sky customer service do it all the time

On a standard sky sub you cannot record on a sky + paired box unless you sign up for Sky +. That is what it is telling me after I paired up to a spare sky + box I had here.
any way around this apart from paying sky tv more?

On a related topic, how is it Sky do not offer any incentives of note to existing customers to upgrade from standard installs to sky + or Hd epecially in these recessionary times? I am a customer over 10 years approx now

Isn't Sky+ recording facilities free for all subscribers? Give Sky a call.

You are still paying so they don't need to offer you an incentive.

    .

yes its Free, (once you are paying a sub, which you are)

just have to ring them to pair the card.

Earlier I did ring and yes they did pair the card, however the manual recording will not work and the message is to upgrade the package!

I'll give them a ring again about it but me thinks I will get a TV with free sat and free view, cancel the sky for a while and get a new subcription under the missus name. the sky dish is so rusty it is ready to fall off!
