Not sure about Stryker, but I can tell you about Boston Scientific and Medtronic in Galway.
Granted this is a few years ago....

Medtronic was a big room with lots and lots of people. You had papers that you filled out like a regular test. Mostly mustiple choice questions.
Some basic math questions, questions to test latteral thinking. You were timed for each section and then moved on to the next regardless of finishing that section or not, though it was something rediculous like get 15 out of 30 right. Honestly, if you've had any kind of schooling in your life, you will be "Apt" enough for this.

Boston Scientific was a much smaller group but they added some physical puzzels to the mix. Get the shapes in the right holes, put the pegs in order as quickly as possible etc.

    You'll be fine.

Have a look at what people say about working for Stryker on here and the ridiculous Gallup tests (IMO)

Hey, could you tell me what its like?

I missed a call from Stryker yesterday (didn't realize until last night) and called them back this morning, they said they'd get back to me but didn't so I just called and they told me they called me to participate in the exam today but I missed out unfortunately. I just have to wait until the next rounds..

Use the search function to see what people have to say about it here on boards. Its a proper pain in the ass to be honest, the time I had It there must have been a few people in a room with and echo and they had me on a bad line on loudspeaker.

I got asked questions like -

'do you like to know a lot about a little or a little about a lot'

asked me how i usually go about my day when i get to work

I was asked about a time when there was conflict/ someone opposing my suggestions

ive heard of people being asked do they have breakfast before work

Sorry I really cant remember all of the questions but I remember being completely stuck by a few

Best of luck and sure just prepare and tell the truth, if you get through the first phone interview I think there is a more intense Gallup one from that is based in the uk as far as i know

Lads, the test itself is fairly easy. I found it easy enough.

If you get past that, then you'll recieve a call and get asked all sorts of questions. "What would you consider a good day at work?" Questions like that, I didn't get past this stage

where are the aptitude tests done and what kind of a test is it? Thanks

It was done in the imperial in town.

The test involved pulley and gears, some basic maths questions. It's not difficult at all

thanks I was a bit worried about it. Did the test take long to do? How long after did they call you.. Sorry about all the questions

I think it was about 90 mins.

I did the test on a Thursday and they called me on the Tuesday.

The whole process is a bit unusual but that's just the way it is. Best of luck with it

    For future reference

I got a call to attend the assessment day a few weeks back and its nothing to be nervous about (easier said than done, I know)

The first phase is all about hand eye coordination, putting pegs from one side of a board to the other and putting washers on rivets and placing them in specific holes on a small chess board type device. All this is done on a stop watch so being relaxed will help no end. Dont watch what others are doing here, concentrate on your own board.

Part 2 and 3 are all written. Second part is to find a sequence of letters and numbers mixed into a line ie, find 1234 in this line 1243 1342 1324 1234 1432 and so on. All the while the numbers and letters get longer. There are 2 five minute parts of 20 lines and I think I got to 17 both occasions but I dont know what is the minimum to pass.

Part 3 is all multipal choice questions. 36 questions in 20 minutes but don't worry, few if any ever finish all 36. I think I answered 30, with one or two guesses. Some will take seconds to answer while others will take a few reads of the paragraph provided to get the answer.

Got a phone call to say I would receive a phone call the following week and we arranged a suitable time. It was the famous gallup test call. I was told to only answer yes or no and would be asked for examples on certain questions. The person doing the call said it would take between 20 and 30 mins to complete with 50 questions and mine took bang on 20.

Some of the questions were ridiculous but there's obviously a science to the gallup test. Some questions asked were, have you ever lied? What kind of person would your friends say you are? When was the last time you had to be organised? Give an example. Do you like to laugh? When was the last time you done someone a favour? Give an example. When was the last time you worked as part of a team? Give an example. If a colleague was behind on his/her work what would you do? On a scale of 1-5 how honest are you? For these type questions ie, on a scale of, remember to never give an inbetween number, its always 1 or 5. Have you ever told a white lie? NO is the answer here always and you'll notice that there are similar questions already asked- have you ever lied, how honest are you and the last about white lies should all have the same reply. NO.

They say you cant prepare for this test and I agree somewhat but it definitely pays to research some questions that might come up so that your mind doesn't go blank but a lot of what I was asked was team or working with others based. The rest were personality based which you just have to answer honestly.

Two weeks later I got a letter in the post saying I would be kept on file for twelve months and that there were no suitable positions to match my experience bla bla..... I'll take that as a pass on gallup seeing as some people got letters to say they failed it but either way I'm not bothered tbh as it was for temperary roles.

I hope this will help someone else and if you do get a call from them, relax and you'll be fine.

    F
