    ive made up pheasant feeders and just wandering how far off ground should bottom of my spring be?thanks

    12 inches I think. Don't forget to make the legs quite long. If they are too long you can push it into the ground, but if they're too short the rats will reach the spring!

    16'' would be perfect for fully grown pheasants. crows can jump up to 12'',thats with mine anyway.

    Rather than carry a measuring tape around with you religously measuring the 16 inches a good rule of thumb,or knee:D,is to position the container/barrel/drum so that the bottom is level with your knee.
    The rats will still get at your wheat. They are very agile little feckers!
    Put some rat poison out around sites you are going to put feeders a couple of weeks prior.
    It will at least get the local population down.
