Anybody have any details about Silver Gail GP that is being run by Fermoy CC this Sunday. I can't find it on their website.

Have any one done this route, what is like? Cheers.

I would also be interested in this too. If it is on the same circuit as they used for the Dan Donovan Memorial last year then it is mainly flat but not pan flat, the odd drag but a short circuit.

Last year for the Dan Donovan was run over the summer league course.
The Silver Pail is a longer course of approx 20Km per lap.
Here is a link to a route for the race.
    http://www.mapmyride.com/route/ie/fermoy%2c%20cork/213127171099854770

The A4 race will be 3 laps.
The A3 will be 4 laps and the A1 / 2 will be 5 laps.

Sign on will move to the Colaiste an Chraoibhin, on the Cork side of the Town.
This is the same location used last year for the Leisure cycle.
Sign on will be from 11.30AM with the first senior race starting at 1pm.

There will also be underage racing,U12 & U14 using the summer league course shown on the website.

Thanks for that, it looks pretty much pan flat alright is it?

Yea it would be considered a flat course. A long drags that hurt at speed.
Position on the first lap is important as the first drag after the turn is always fast.
Hard to compare speeds as last year the vets, S3 and junior were in a combined race.
Speed after the top hit 60Km, on the flat / slight down hill section.
No real place to recover on the first part of the course to Glanworth as it is draggy and twisty.
After Glanworth road to Ballyhooley is tight and rough, then its back the main road to Start/ Finish.
Again this section has a sharp hill that only lasts 200m but then drags out for another 500m.
All that said I would expect that a group of 50 + could still be together for the finish.

Thanks for that, my computer's busted so I had no idea how we were going. Well done today, you deserved it, you seemed to be at the front of the bunch all day. My uncle was in the break (and went on to win) so all I had to do was sit in the bunch and not contribute to the effort.

Well done! With a max HR of 186bpm at the end it looks like you need to adjust your max HR seeing as it shows 101% of Max! Fair play, you must have been really pushing hard!

Thanks. I won the bunch sprint, as there was a break of 2 riders who were 1st and 2nd. It was a long sprint, hence the high HR, the bunch seemed to slow and wait, I made a move down the right and won by 20m or so.

Well done jdt101. That was a great sprint today nobody was gonna get by you thats for sure. I came in approx 10th in bunch and for anybody who looks at power stats my normalised power for the race was 267watts for 1hr 36min.

Well done to Jdt01, I think you came on the outside of me, may have even slipped streamed off me coming up to the finish line.

This was a really enjoyable race despite the poor weather. The rain was pelting so hard at one stage, it was like hail stone. This slowed down the pack and as a result, very few got dropped, I think about 20 in all. There was a crash coming up to the final junction but I was luck enough to avoid it and catch up with the bunch. I don't think anyone was injured in any major way. One Carrick lad took a right clatter at the end; apart from the initial shock it doesn't look like he will be off the bike too long - I hope you have a speedy recovery.

I mistimed the finish and went for it with a 1/4 mile to go, waaay too early for me. You live and learn. It was well organised and my most enjoyable race of the year. And the food feast afterwards, brilliant, I haven't seen the like of it at a race. For a tenner, it was a great day out, well done to Fermoy CC.

My stats are somewhat distorted as I left on the clock for 2 minutes afterwards but here they are anyway: Distances 58.3km, 36.3kph, cad 90, ave hr 155.

I see Tommy Campbell gave you 2nd jdt101, transferred my uncle to Comeragh and forgot about the Comeragh lad that came 2nd.

I noticed that this morning. The other guy must have failed the post race drugs test, we'll have to wait for the results of the B-Sample...
