so im thinking about getting rid of the 360 and investing in the ps3. just have a few questions and was looking for some advice.

does the playstation have a similar setup with sky where u can watch sky player or zune or some other sort of yoke on the ps3?

can you stream movies from your pc to to console?

You dont have a sky player but you do have an internet browser so you can use any of the iplayers for free.

Yes you can stream as well.

Why bother getting rid of the 360? They're hardly worth big bucks even new these days, so trading in a used one is not going to knock much off the price of a PS3. Don't get me wrong, I love my PS3, but I don't see why it's an either/or thing.

+1, the 360 is worth more by keeping it.

The PS3 does not have many differences over the 360 as a pure games console. Just a few exclusive games, free online play, and it's a web browser and bluray player.

PS3 does not have OtherOS though. In case that makes any differance.

Neither does the PS3, and I think the OP wants to go online.

I wouldn't get rid of the Xbox, for the amount you'd get I can't see the point.

The browser works with Megavideo which is handy. Look up PS3MediaServer for better streaming to the PS3, runs on the computer and converts as you watch.

BBC iplayer doesnt work outside the UK but the RTE, TV3, ITV channel 4 (sometimes) do work.

I reckon keep the Xbox, but also get the PS3, I own both consoles, theres no super-exclusive PS3 games that have made me go WOW except for maybe Uncharted 2 and MGS4 (in parts) I do actually love the console at the same time, but feel theres not enough games for me at the moment, I reckon this is the year we will see the PS3 moving up a gear though as the developers really seem to be getting the knack of it....

Lately ive been doing a lot of stacking up and playing 2 games on each system and I have to say the Xbox generally is better from what ive seen, MW2, SF4, Assassins Creed 2, and Fight Night are some of the games ive compared both platforms and on each of those games the PS3 seem slow and not as smooth running compared to the Xbox counterpart, I reckon thats a trend thats dying thankfully and soon we will see the better looking PS3 games.....

And anyway, its nice seeing the two consoles stacked alongside each other and knowing you have choices.... ;)

What a change in culture that the prime market ends up buying both consoles! Imagine a kid getting a Nintendo and Mega Drive back in the day?!

Right, so I get this much : PS3 is slightly more robust than the 360 which scratches disks if you fart too close to the machine. Is that an accurate assessment?
