Hi all I'm looking for a pair of lightly tan tights that have good coverage if that makes sense??

I'm wearing a black dress and was going to wear black tights with it but have decided to try it with tan tights instead. Thing is my legs are NOT fit for public eyes what with scars bruises and just uneven skin tone. So im looking for a pair of tights that would cover up/disguise these things. Is there such a thing and if so any ideas where i can get em!!??:)

I wouldnt advise tan tights. Theyre quite cringeworthy (and everyone always knows you're wearing them). Personally I would put on some sally hansen airbrush legs. Covers even my friends bad eczema and bruises

But if you really want to go down that road go to marks and spencers. They do the best quality hosiery without paying through the nose

The thicker the denier, the thicker the tights will be and so will show off less. If you wanna go with tights, find the highest number you can.

    Perhaps these? http://www.marksandspencer.com/Pairs-20-Denier-Gloss-Tights/dp/B002F7SYQS?ie=UTF8&qid=1271699209&categoryNodeID=42967030&ref=sr_1_14&page=2&node=341278031&sr=1-14&mnSBrand=core&rh=n%3A341278031

I wear sheer tights sometimes, but only the really thin barely there ones.
The thick tan ones can look a little granny-ish, in my opinion.
I'd agree with sally hansen or body foundation.
I've covered up shaving scratches and brushes with foundation many a time.

    Hi Op,

    Your options are (imo)

    Wolford Sheer 15 €19.00
Wolford Naked 8 (sheer but still has coverage) €16.00
Falke Shelina 12 denier (fine for 12 denier) Look very natural €9.50
Aristoc Ultra Shine Bare gold (€6.50)

Basically, the higher the denier, the less natural the tights appear but if you're willing to invest I would suggest the Wolford Sheer 15 as it gives coverage but doesn't have that 'tights-look'.

You could purchase leg make-up to cover any marks etc or wear a pair of sheer tights and then a netted fashion tight over them.

All available in Arnotts on Henry Street.

I just wouldn't wear tan tights. They are really old fashioned.

    Sally Hansen is great.

    Use that.

Thanks guys for all the replies unfortunatly tanning bare legs is out of the question for me ive used the sally hansen before and it just doesnt cover. i have a huge scar on my leg just below my knee and while im not self conscious about i do kind of want to disguise it. ive recently lost alot of weight so wearing a dress above my knees is a new venture for me so i want to be as comfortable as i can be without having to worry about my legs:)

Im heading into arnotts this thusday for shoes so ill check out the tights options in there thanks.

A while ago I commented on how amazing my friend's legs looked, all perfect and tanned and she was wearing penney's nude tights! I'd never worn nude tights before because of the awful granny implications but these are fantastic.

Not sure if they're exactly what you're after but they're only €2.50 so you could at least try them out. You buy them in boxes of 4. White box, like tesco own brand :D

I've got these and they're great. Lots of people tell me they look really natural.

Thanks again guys for the replies

I bought penny tights there yesterday and they werent great they actually looked like patchy false tan!! but i think i did spot the ones your talking about chupi and steered clear as "tesco" own brand is exactly what popped into my head when i saw them so ill go back and have another look!
ive heard good things about those m&s tights too will give them a shot too!

i wore those a good few times last summer, with short dresses, and they looked really natural, a couple of my friends thought i was barelegged.
and sooo cheap, that they are definitely worth a shot anyway!
i would suggest bring a spare pair in your bag just in case they ladder though.

I always where Penneys Luxury Glossy Tights in Sunkissed. My friends always say how great my legs look, not realising I have tights on! €3 for a pack of two and they last for ages with handwashing. I much prefer these ones to the white box ones.

Yay for all the love for penneys tights!

I would NEVER have bought tan tights if I hadn't seen my friend looking great wearing them. But I'm def going to get those M&S ones recommended too, the penneys ones are great but they only really do 3 wears. Or maybe I'm just clumsy :o

Dunnes always have a great selection of tan tights which I wear to work. The girls in the office the other day were convinced i had tan on my legs so they must look decent. Avoid any which are too thick, shimmery or sheer. A muted natural colour is what to look for.

If you're looking to cover scars though you'd need thicker coverage which I would imagine WOULD look grannyish - a barely there tan tight is best. The only problem I find with them is that it's really easy to put your finger through them so buy a few packs!!

I dunno why there is so much hate for tan tights in this thread. I wear them all the time, they are great for covering up lumps and bumps on the back of your legs, especially above the knee. I always buy sheen ones, usually from Dunnes. They had tights on sale from €4 to €1.50.

I'm always clumsy with mine though, mine only last one wear! :(

Not sure why everyone saying they look grannyish. That only happens if they are too dark or too thick. I love the Penneys ones. They look natural and are cheap enough to not bother you if you tear them. I've bought more expensive pairs and have torn them first wear. Also, the penney's ones come in fours so you can throw a spare pair in your handbag just in case!
