Hi I am currently doing a fas course and receive 225 a week, my husband is getting JSA and also getting 225 a week. We have 2 kids. I am applying for a job which will pay 500 euros weekly and I am wondering how will this effect my husbands JSA, will he lose all or part of it.

I have rang citzens advise to check how much he will get and they told me to check on their web site for details which i have done but cannot work it out. I rang Social Welfare and they told me to arrange an appointment with the means test officer to work out the amount he will receive.

We have been means tested before when he applied for JSA and nothing has changed.

Can anyone help me to work out the amount. Thanks.

    Hi Maggiesims

It is hard to give estimates on means tests but if you will be receiving EUR500 per week gross in your new job, your husband will not be working part-time and you have no other means (significant savings etc.), I would estimate his payment if you take the job to be EUR130.65 per week.

A few years ago when I moved in with my OH i was means tested. Now, at the time he was on JSB and i was applying for JSA, They told me I wasn't entitled to a penny because he was making "so much money"!!!
