I hear AOL are considering closing his once dominant social networking site too.

An amazing fall from grace considering they paid $700,000,000 for it ;)

He did well against Connacht, shame about the yellow card though.

Sorry, I meant to say Zebo. So is he?

I was hoping Liam Bibo would come on in the game yesterday, if only for the juvenile humour of saying "Bibo takes on Zebo down the wing" :D

He hasn't been capped at senior level for Ireland. Some have been at under 18/19 levels.

So what if Simon's father wasn't born in Ireland? he has lived in Ireland for more than 25 years! His mother is Irish. He was born and raised in Cork. He went to Pres, was part of a Munster Schools winning team in 2007, played for his Country (Ireland) and Under 18 and 20 and played a fantastic game against Connacht yesterday. Is he continues to play this way, he will win a senior cap. A fine example and achievement of a special talent from a person of mixed heritage!

Nobody suggested that Zebo wasn't "Irish through and through".

And what imaginary poster is this moralistic crusade aimed at?

excuse me the word 'crusade' suggests religious intolerance. I'm outraged!

    Highly entertaining thread!

But yeah can say I wasn't familiar with him until yesterday. I don't remember him playing in any of the Pre-season warm-up matches back in early September. None the less I was impressed by him yesterday. The yellow card was fairly harsh too.

Next time i hilariously misspell someone's name i'll expect everyone to be very grown up about it.

Until someone randomly decides that we think he shouldn't play for ireland due to his father's nationality.

    Or something.

I suppose that means that heaslip (isreal), rog (USA), big mal (UK) and many others aren't fit to wear the shirt.

Is he not on any form of provincial contract?

I found no profile for him on munsterrugby.ie either as a senior or academy player.

Interesting post... If he is capped for Ireland at senior level then I suppose he would be the first 'black' player. But I'd say that wouldn't bother him too much, as in he would be concentrating more on his performances!

But this topic brings up another one. Racism in rugby matches here. It is very rare, but on my own team (We play at U19s level) there have been 5-6 occasions where racist abuse has occured this year. We have one black player on the team anlong with myself, with a foreign sounding name. Hes has been called a ******, a black thick and a gollywog (wtf) before. I was once told to '**** off you foreigner bastard' during my last match. I don't look foreign, I don't sound foreign, my mother is Irish while my Dad, who has been living here for 30 years, is from the Mediterranean. I don't understand it, I was born and bred here but I feel like an outsider, even on the pitch. It doesn't really bother me to be honest, its just words. But what does bother me is alot of Irish peoples ignorance and 'unwelcome' attitude. Now in rugby it is not as bad as the GAA but still, it is not perfect. Even within my own club, it feels like that.
Worst thing is people get away with it and they have the support of the majority of the people.

    Ah **** it... Baffles me...

    Good luck to Simon Zebo.

Would've assumed he was an academy player -he's too good to be in that mysterious Munster sub-academy thing.

I'm utterly appalled by that, and noone i know would behave like that towards anyone, let alone at a rugby match, and i'd never laugh along with anyone dishing out racial abuse.

My sarcasm above was that one poster seemed to be suggesting racism which is absolutely without foundation, and the OP didn't seem to like taking a slagging.
I've never seen Zebo play but if he's any good , i can't wait to see him in an irish shirt.

    Well technically he's half Irish.

That Irish U20 team had plenty of talent. Its a pity Connacht havn't played Tiernan O'Halorhan or Eion Griffen more. They looked very good for the U20's. Hudson was overall (TOH only played 2 games) the best winger for Ireland. The question is when will he get a chance for Leinster or will he get a chance.

Hudson had a great strike rate but a lot of his scores were run in a straight line and fall over the line jobs. Wasn't that impressed with him myself.

I'll stand by my opinion that Tiernan O'Halloran is the best U20 player (in the backs) in the country at the moment. Better even than Conway or Macken. He has pace, a huge step, serious power and is a monster in the tackle. Only thing i would question is his hands but as a winger he wont need to make many silky passes anyway. Its crazy that he hasn't been given a meaningful chance for Connacht yet this year. I could see himself and Zebo line out for Munster someday, fingers crossed.

Also from a video posted here awhile back apparently Zebos dad was a sprinter in the Olympics, always good to have some pace bred into you :D
