Anyone know if there is a way to use a wii gamecube that connects directly to the Wii console in order to play Pro Evo.

When the game starts it says either use the wii controller and nunchuck or connect the gamecube to the wii controller.

However i bought mine very cheap on ebay and the connection only allows you to connect it to one of the 4 ports on the console itself.

When i start pro evo i cant use the gamecube to enter the game at all. There is no life.

However it looks like the cube does work coz it allows me to scroll through my list of games via USB Loader.

Hope this doesnt sound too confusing.

Just wondering if anyone else had same problems and can give me an answer rather than me wasting my time trying to figure it out.

    Googling hasnt really helped yet

A lot of third party GC controllers just won't work with the Wii. Was the one you got definitely listed as Wii compatible?
is the wiimote on when you're trying this? If it is, you'll have to plug the controller into socket 2 instead
