Christian Emo tweenie chart toppers? what has 'punk' come to.. they'll turn 23 someday and feel very, very old - likely disbanded by then.

    TERRIBLY underrated!

Paramore are actually my favourite band, I think largely due to Hayley Williams being absolutely GORGEOUS! I was a bit meh about Marlay Park this year until I heard they were playing

They used to be my favourite band a few years ago. I thought I'd never get sick of listening to them.
    ... I was wrong.
They're not all that great. I still like to listen to them and all, just not as much as I used to.
Most of the hype I think, is due to Hayley being so hawt.
    But actually, she looks 12.

    I like Paramore :(
Moreso their earlier stuff before all those twilight screaming girls started liking them.

I'm confused...Why are we discussing them in a Punk forum?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 244 ✭✭RachPie

She's got a pretty voice, the object of many teenage boys affection and orange hair. That's about all the mediocre band has going for it.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 6,525 Mod ✭✭✭✭dregin

This thread should be moved to rock/metal, tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 550 ✭✭✭GirlOfGlass

Well they're labelled pop punk, a sub-genre of punk. Or sometimes just labelled rock.

But I bet if this was moved to the rock/metal forum people would complain that they don't fit that genre either.

A tenebrous link at best imo - they should be booted back to the corporate emo abyss where they came from. :D

I'm thinking maybe there should be an 'Emo' thread on boards. That would sort this out.

    Paramore = Crust Punk

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13 I Play Guitar What Have You Done

I'd like to point out somethings : Paramore are incredibly brilliant (Old and new songs). And are not emo despite what in one or two videos would say. They are pop rock with punk only in some songs.

Paramore is Haley Williams = lead singer, Josh Farro = Lead guitarist and backing vocals, Zac Farro = Drummer, Jeremy Davis = Bassist, Taylor York = Rhythm guitar (None of these people are emo do you know what emo is cause if you do explain it and as one song says "Ignorance is your new best friend").

Plus how the **** are they a Christian rock band compare them to The Fray.

Seen her sing with Chino Moreno from the Deftones yesterday and i have to say she has a great voice and their voices complimented each other great.

Was during Deftones set and she sang on Passenger from White Pony...

That is quite a good song. Plus that song made something surprising happen, Hayley Williams was on Flava (Which I thought was pronounced flav).

Yep, but they are not punk and should be discussed in another forum. Despite having a wee bit of "bubble gum punk" that's reputed to be in some of their songs. You're either a Punk band or not (imo) - and they are definitely not.

So much wrong here... but I think I'll just leave it down to this, I am not taking musical criticism from someone who's location is "DISCO HEAVEN".

I got free tickets to green day in marley park last week and paramore were supportin. Im not into that type of music but they seem pretty decent and the singer has a decent voice. Also noticed she seemed very humble on stage for a band that has 34 million views on one of their songs on you tube.

I don't see how her having a good voice makes a difference, the melodies are still rubbish. It wouldn't matter if she had a terrible voice. It's like that old saying; a pig with lipstick on is still a pig. Another example, Joe Satriani. Amazing guitar player, but the music is absolute ****! **** songs sang with a nice voice are still **** songs.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,085 ✭✭✭Baggio...

Things is, I'm not disputing they have can't play or sing. It's totally irrelevant and a moot point to discuss here, as this is a punk forum - they are not punk and would be better discussed on an "alternative" music forum.

Plus, I think they are a steaming pile of poo. :P

I just plain do not like them. They opened for GD in Marlay Park and Paris and to be honest, I was just so damn bored watching them! The only exciting thing that happened was when the bassist spun around on the guitarist's back. Hayley kept saying "We are PARAMORE!" and after about the 3rd time it was like "Yeah, ok we got it." I just don't understand the appeal at all.

Not punk. Punks not dead. Well, its maybe in old age.

But what the hell are they doing in Punk.
    :O

Eh, since when are Paramore a punk band?
Anyway, I used to love them. It was probably because Hayley was the only female in "rock" I knew about. Not a massive fan anymore, but she has a brilliant voice, and they put on a good live show.
