Need help with VRT

    Hi All,

    I recently purchased a used car in Northern Ireland from a Private Seller, the car was in bad nick and i knew it but i came home and fixed the car up so everything is fine and it should fly through the NCT. However when i took the car the seller gave me section 8-11 of the DVLA Book and did not sign any declarations or anything of that nature, i now want to VRT the car but i am unsure if i have the correct documentation and the seller seems quite unwilling to meet due to the condition the car was in when purchased. At this moment of time all the items below;
    • 2000 VW GOLF MK4 (GT-TDI)
    • DVLA Booklet (Section 8-11)
    • A Completed VRT4 Form
    • Money for VRT, Tax and NCT
    Can somebody please let me know if i have everything i need to transfer the cars ownership, and if not what can i do to get it (providing the seller will hardly speak to me), i have tried to contact the VRO but they have been of little to no assistance at all and i thought i would try boards, please let me know thanks in advance.

    Kind Regards,

    i think all you ave to do is bring it to your vrt place and they will sort ya out from there but just bring everything you have anyway to be safe. i dont think you should have any problems. I am also open to correction though.

    You'll need the full V5 to VRT the car. How much of the V5 is section 8-11?

    After ringing belfast, tippareary, dublin and my local i have found the solution. Anan1 is correct you need the full book to VRT the car i only have the right hand side which is off pretty much no use, so if you are in my situation you have go through the below steps
    1. Request a certificate from DVLA (http://www.dvlni.gov.uk/vehicles/vehicle_forms/V756NI.pdf)
    2. Go into VRO with all documentation proving you own the car, receipts etc they will give you a letter incase customs stop you so you can drive the car (for 1-2 weeks)
    3. When the new DVLA Certificate arrives (2-3 Weeks) bring it into the VRO and they will register the car
    Hope this helps someone else aswell
