    Link?

Have to say I like Chiles a lot!! He's got a face for radio as they say but he's a good presenter. Not very surprised to hear that ITV have poached him but surpirsed that he's left the beeb, especially considering that ITV is not exactly a secure place to be right now.

Hmm, surprising move unless he's been offered a very big show.

I've always found that he has always presents in his own style and makes the show his own in a way (In particular with MOTD2 & even Working Lunch).

Infact I was reading recently of the surge in popularity in The One Show. He's certainly doing well for himself.

He was getting a Million a year. That is just crazy money for the One Show and You're Fired. He is good but not a Million good.

Was that Million his actual salary or salary plus other income (public appearances etc.)?

GMTV and ITV's World Cup football coverage

Yep, that's a big enough incentive. :D I'd say Steve Rider is a bit Pee'd off though.

I wonder who will replace him on MOTD2. I hope it keeps it's own identity. Poor old West Brom wont get a mention. :p

I would have thought just from the BBC. It would be rare that they would included public appearances, how would they know? And you can't get away with estimations even on boards

Do the BBC not have World Cup Coverage also?

Yup, The Beeb & ITV have blanket live coverage. I'd imaging Lineker has the main BBC gig though.

I don't blame him for taking off, the Beeb did the dirty on him. Is there a programme that they won't involve that Chris Evans tosser in?

Shame to see him go - these high profile 'transfers' of presenters rarely work out. ITV is a mess of a station but getting the anchor role for England's World Cup games is a big carrot.

He will be missed on Match Of The Day 2, that show is much better than the original on BBC1. Apart from The One Show and The Apprentice:You're fired, he was also supposed to have a chat show in the Summer, I don't know if that will be axed now. He is a very talented presenter, hope it goes well for him on ITV.

I always hoped he'd do a world cup cross-over show with Gary Lineker.

"Jug-ears and the Toby Jug" I tentatively called it.

Does Chris Evans know anything about football?

Chris Hollins has probably got the One show job, Link Here hope to god he doesn't get MOTD 2 as well, he comes across as being fairly unpleasant and lacking talent, humour and considering his dad was a great footballer, little passion for football.

Football wise, Chiles will be a better presenter than Steve Ryder, but given the choice between ITV and BBC I will still choose the BBC, consistently WAY better than ITV's coverage.

Considering they will share only the final of the World Cup you don't really get to choose between them.

Aw crap! :( I thought he was just going to fill in for a while? I can't stand the way he presents and don't really think he's suited to the One show at all :(

I didn't realise an agreement had been reached between the two, they have often clashed with Quarter finals onward, particularly if England are still in it. I know Group games are usually shared. Good old RTE can offer an alternative anyway.

For the last few World Cups at least BBC and ITV have never simulcast the same games unless it is the final.

People hopping over to ITV to anchor major sports events - not a career choice that has worked well before.

    - Matt Lorenzo leaving SKY to anchor ITV's coverage of USA 1994. My stand-out memory is him declaring that the Irish were delighted (with no hint of irony) to have qualified to play Mexico in Orlando.
    - Mark Durnden Smith (sp?) leaving SKY to anchor ITV's coverage of RWC 1999 (I think, might have been 2003).
    - Steve Rider leaving BBC to .. be never heard of again

Don't wish any misfortune for Chiles, but he does have a face for radio.

I was quite shocked by this. I like Chiles. He was on MOTD2 last tonight so I guess that was his last gig. I'm sure I read that he was annoyed at plans to put Chris Evans on The One Show on Fridays. I guess it's to do with that.

Good coup for ITV. Better than the Lynam one I reckon.

aw man - I'm gonna miss him on the One Show and probably won't be bothered to watch it now that he's going and I defo won't bother with the Apprentice now either (I only watched his section of it last year)............ITV, well done - BBC, dopes!

    Though he was treated disgracefully.
I have lost any respect I have had for the British BBC over the last few years and this latest further episode is just hardening that feeling.

The guy that does the darts?!

I figured they'd just promote either one of the Football Focus hosts. Bad decision imo.

I have seen Colin Murray presenting the football on Five a few times, he is decent enough at that. He is excellent on Fighting Talk on Radio 5 Live.

Hopefully he can develop a good rapport with the panellists on MOTD2, Adrain Chiles was very good at that.

I hate Colin Murray as a presenter :(
