  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 154 ✭✭shaggykev

    backed mark allen at 20s

didnt realise he has never won a ranking tournamnet beforehand

should of done more reserch, but cant have ronnie or selby with the horrid draw they have

reckon allen will make semis without a sweat

higgins was 5-1 yesterday when 5-4 down to hawkings

that might of been a damn good price when all is said and done

Just looking at the match betting there, the only bet that stands out is Davis at 21/10 to beat King. I know davis is pushing on but on his day he's very capable of beating king. King is a great character in the sport but is only an average snooker player

    Yeah?

Yhang was only that when he was 2 frames down to Hendry last night.

Backed Yhang and all he needed was 1 frame of the remaining 3 to win and he lost them all.

Ive backed Robertson to win it at 12's.

i think he was referring to 5/1 being the price about higgins winning the tournament outright not the match

Ali Carter (28/1) and Stephen Maguire (18/1) are my outright bets... The draw having a lot to do with my decision...

Carter blew Cope away in the 1st round, he's at 20/1 which still looks a very generous price! He has the experience to go the whole way.....

l went for ding junhui at 9/1 and mark williams at 16/1 tho from what l saw of williams today he was'nt playing well

I generally throw a tenner on a frame to be either over 101.5 or under 101.5 total points. It's usually 5/6 odds. I tend to be really lucky in my choices and i increase the stake in the later frames if the score is close because they tend to pot more then and will come in for snookers if needed. I'm already up a big amount since the tournament started. It's worth looking into if you have internet for live betting.

Hope you weren't doing it on the King/Davis match last night ;)
Made a few quid myself last night laying both layers at odds on in the scrappy frames. It was actualy an "Interesting game" :pac:, hopefully Davis can get a decent start tonight as i've already layed King at 1.19 when he was 2-0 up last night. Ebdon is on opposite table against Dott tonight so could be plenty of trading opportunities in that match as well. Could be lots of grinding on both tables :)

I sometimes do that bet when i'm bored... For someone who does it a lot, what would you find to be the most common result??
Would a Davis/King type game have more over or under 101.5 games than say a O'Sullivan/Higgins game??
Or do you just consider it pot luck??
    Thanks

I actually find i win more so. But in order to get a return you have to keep on betting. I read somebodies statistics earlier where they had something like 60 odd frames have been played so far and 40 odd of them where over 101.5. That's a high percentage. So to keep betting over 101.5 you should statistically make a profit. That's what i do and only every now and then i go under. And when i have i tend to be quite lucky in calling it.

I haven't been betting on the Davis/King one as i thought it would be pretty scrappy and a lot of lower breaks. And looking at the scores i was right. No centuries in 14 frames and only 4 of them have broke 101.5.

I've been betting on the Ebdon/Dott game which i thought would be a better break building game and i like Dott as a player. 6 out of the 7 frames have been over 101.5 so far. I'm up 49.98 on that one as i bet to be over on each one.

It is really pot luck as snooker is a hard game to judge frame to frame between certain players. But the odds should be with you if you keep betting over. I have had bad luck with 3 frames in a row being under in the past but it has been in my favor overall since i started doing it. Later on in the tournament i'll increase my stakes as the better players are left and i should come away with a couple of hundred.

dott and ebdon is the borefest supreme world snooker killer.

You can take it as given that if bookies are offering these odds they've used the results of thousands of frames and not a sample of 50 or 60. There's no way there's any value in backing something that has a roughly even chance at 5/6.

Well i'm not a gambler and that bet is about the only thing i bet on. Have been doing it for years on the big tournaments and i've always won a couple of hundred off them. I've yet to drop below a profit of 152.88 euro from doing this type of bet. I don't just look at present statistics. I also factor in current form and past frames in past competitions. I don't bet every frame as i'm not always beside a computer. But with the ones i do bet on i tend to be lucky. Value or not it's been working for me. And i expect this tournament to pay my car insurance.

Both  doing in running betting on frame by frame, both so nervy now the swings in betting in running are amazing. Dott as been done at 1/4 in this frame and robertson 2/5. Looks like another breakdown from Robertson :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,584 ✭✭✭digme

Ya your right about that robbie.
Dott to me seems less nervous,Robertson then has the lead though...
