We have an old laptop - it is a Dell Inspiron 7000 - windows '98 - 64 MB RAM internal memory ( 2 slots available ) and it is a Pentium 2
The hard drive is 4GB .

Would it be worthwhile , to buy a HD on eBay and 2 sticks of 128MB ram

Or is it ready for the nearest skip ?

    Skip probably :o

Maxes out at 192MB RAM and 8GB HDD, and a Pentium 2 would probably have difficulty with even a low-impact Linux distro at this point :o
