Looking into a week, maybe 10 days in Greece at the beginning of June. General sightseeing, especially interested in the ancient attractions. Apart from Athens, has anyone any recommendations for going further afield?

Alot of Greece's top ten tourist sites seem to be spread all over the country.I dont mind spending a fair bit of time on public transport, but I think it would be overkill to be taking overnight ferries to the furthest islands and maybe taking trains or renting cars for trips across the country, when your talking about possibly only 7 days. Seems like you could be on the go ALL the time, which is something I want to avoid.

Anyone got any must see's that I shouldnt miss out on and that would be manageable in the time i have?

well i would advise going to the islands, you could easily do two islands in 7-10 days. By the way, you can fly to the islands also which does save time & they are not too expensive. Check out aegean airlines & olympic. I think aegean has a sale at the moment too. also greeka.com is good for giving information on the islands & ferry timetables so you can get an idea how far away they are from each other. Pick one or two islands in the cyclade group for example.

Nafplio is nice it is 2 hours away from Athens, if you go there I would suggest going to the ancient theater of Epidauros as well.

    I just found this link

delphi is nice, the bus ride from athens to delphi itself is worth the 3 hour trip, some lovely mountain scenery, costs about €12 one-way

you can easily do delphi and back in one day

I've been to Athens, Delphi, Mycenae and Olympia. All worth a visit. I was able to visit all these in a week.
