ryanair change of flight due to volcanic ash

    hi
    i am flying to rome on april 23 friday and return 27th by ryanair
    as per the news, the flight disruptions may go on next week too.
    to avoid last minute problems, i want to change my ryanair flight
    when i tried to change it to future date, its charging me.
    but the website says free change of date.
    is it only for the already cancelled flight?

    pls suggest

    I dont know. It says you can change for flights up to the 30th April. I have a similar problem. My ireland-stanstead flight is cancelled because it falls before the 1pm cut off but my connecting flight is at 2pm from london to france and I may have some difficulty with that one. Plus I had already checked in online so I cant manage the booking or make any changes so I think a call to the call center first thing monday morning is the only possibility.

    It will only be free to change once they have cancelled it. So anything up until 13.00 tomorrow.

    You will have to wait and see if they decide to extend the cancellation to change your free of charge or get a refund.

    The Flight has to be canceled to allow you change it free of charge.

    ohhh..so i will wait till friday then
    sad that i cant change it before cancellation..
    looks like the cancellation will continue till the end of week.
    does the travel insurance cover the flight cancellations due to the volcanic ash?
    if i dont cancel my hotel, then they will charge me for one day of accomodation
