    Hello!

I am going to purchase and AEG but will also be getting a side arm. From what i can gather most are gas but i have seen some electric ones.

Which is better? Does the gas last long? Ii am thinking electric might be better but maybe i am way off here?

    Any advise is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Abram

For an primary weapon eg. assault rifle types, sub machine types, etc. you cant go wrong with good old fashioned electricity! ;)

Dont get me wrong, GBB rifles are cool and more realistic, but if your planning on skirmishing, an AEG will serve you well.

Unless you like to reload every 20 seconds!

But as far as airsoft pistols are concerned, GBB is the only way to go! Electric pistols are usually crappy!
And if you choose a GBB pistol, you have to make the choice between Co2 and Green/134a gas...

I'm with Stephen above re: rifles. GBB rifles are fecking great - but to use them you really do have to shell out a shed load for enough mags to be able to skirmish (i.e. mags are real or low caps - so max 40 bbs per mag). That means 6 - 10 mags to be able to compete. So aegs are the way to go for rifles for me.

For side arms I have yet to see an electric pistol worth a damn. GBB is the way to go - whether green gas or C02. Just feels better - and as a side arm you don't have to worry about having a shed load of mags - I rarely have more than a single mag for a side.

I have Co2 1911 and a CZ75D compact, also a Dan Wesson revolver, very happy with them all. No messing with Gas bottles.

CO2 pistols have advantages over green gas - they are better for colder conditions and suffer less from 'cool down'. Green gas is effected by temperature - the lower the temperature the less performance you'll get from the pistol - best used in temps of over 10 degrees (optimum is higher). The process of discharging the gas cools the gas (release of pressure etc - there's a law of physics that I forget that explains this!). CO2 does not suffer from this cool down effect as it reacts to different temperature range, so it's of more use in our climate. You'd have to watch it in warmer weather though.
Sooo ... I'd say use green gas in summer and CO2 in cold weather.
Another consideration is that CO2 comes in those little metal pods that stores sell - they screw into the mag of the pistol generally. Green gas is filled using a larger external can that you can use to refill the gas reservoir in the mag of the pistol at any stage (so if you've used have a fill of gas you just top it up between games).
