Hey all, it's been a while since i played Arma II. Bought it on release day and got fed up of the bugs. Reinstalled it sometime later with the first 2 patches I think, but I still had server connection issues as well as buggy textures and such.

Considering trying to get back into it again, so whats changed since I played it last? (I gave up like 2 weeks after release )

    About 3gbs of changes :p

Never had any issues with but infamous had quite a lot. Imo the game is a platform for the community to build on mods and missions that are out now are simply awesome.

ACE comepletly changes the game, shame our server is almost always empty unless we on it.

Patch it and get ACE and join us on monday for a game. fair amount of mods to get altho ACE and a few maps are the main ones.

My problems seemed to get ironed out a good bit with the updates though, only had the occasional problem. Haven't been on in ages, I'm sure it's even less the case now if I updated everything.

The game has completely changed since You last played. Being a small developer they released the game in an unfinished state cos they had no more funds, but fair play to them, they stuck with it and sorted it. Its a pity other developers didn't support pc gaming as well, instead of taking the money and running that we're all to familiar with.

We'll not be on our server on Mon though, So You'll have till thur to get sorted with the mods. I'll link to them tomorrow for You m8.

cool man, thanks. I think you remember my sheer frustration with the game a while back, it just got to a point where i chucked the game into a corner and uninstalled it, heh :(

First You need to patch Your game to 1.05

    Mods and Launcher
To run a mod in Arma, You just add the mod folder to the game directory simply called @Mod and You start it by adding it to the end of Your game parameters in the shortcut like this: “C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA \arma.exe” -mod=@Mod
The simple way of doing this is to use a launcher, this will allow you to easily enable or disable mods as well as intiate the many parameters like -nosplash etc. You can also set the order the mods launch in as this is important, CBA must be launched before Ace. The server IP can be saved into this program and an auto join option becomes available.

    Installing Mods
We use a tool called Yoma Tools to download and install the mods for us. Its pretty simple to use and once You've used it once You'll understand it
Click New Server and paste the following into Auto Config URL then click Import Server (right click copy link location), they'll then appear under Favorite Servers.

    This ones for ACE 2
This ones for other much used mods and maps

    Searching For Mods and Updates
To search for mods or updates double click the link in Favorite Servers and it will open its own tab in Yoma, click the middle Download Addons tab and then Check for Addons. The program will do its trick and show a list of updated or new files, then click on Download Addons and they will download. Be sure to delete extra files after if You get a popup

Get all of the Kellys Heros Ace repository, they update on Monday and Friday at 6.00PM, usually 30-60MB update each time, I always update the server and post the version the server runs (in version.txt in @ACE folder) in the Ace thread as everyone gets pop-ups if anyone joins with a different version Ace mod. You don't need all of the Kellys Heros Community Repo, but its a handy way to get and update them, Just get Pantera and Isla Duala for now as they're the biggest and the most played, the others are pretty small and lots like Hifi and TRFW etc are only sound mods which You'll hear lots about, but aren't essential

My steam will be logged in if You have any trouble
