Someone told us today about this.

A cat had been stranded for a few days on a roof; just could not get down.

One of the houses on the road from the Diamond to the Pier; on the same side as the Garda Barracks.

Finally, they closed the road, and brought in a platform and rescued it..

    Nice one...:)

    I empathise.

I was stuck on a roof once too. A crowd gathered and taunted me. (jump, jump, jump). I tried to get down but couldn't.

Then, I gained super powers. I took off in flight over the rooftops - flew like the wind. It was a bit like swimming to be honest. I think it was the frog stroke I was doing.

Then, all of a sudden and with no warning, I was driving a car. It was wierd because I have never driven before (except for grand theft auto).

Then I woke up and fed the cats.

    It was traumatic though.

What goes up must come down,;)

Well, given the way animals are treated in Ireland, what other reaction could I really expect!!!!

I am English as we see animal rescue differently.

Ah well, I guess I walked into that one.. Incidentally, the man who told me is Californian..

We have two cats and two dogs; all rescued

    Any popcorn left?

Brought a smile to my face :)

I posted this before in another thread:
Ah, just about 2 weeks ago (may 5th, on the way home from a concert actually), my compadre and I stumbled upon some commotion and activity down by the canal, a fire truck and 6 firemen, I of course thought dead body, but then heard little squeaks, it turned out 4 ducklings had drifted down to one of the lower canal locks and weren't able to get out, there was nowhere to swim and they couldn't fly so were face to face with death if they didn't get out.

The man who called the fire truck was still there, he said he phoned them at about 5.30 and it was about 11 at this stage and the fire men had been there for about 3 or 4 hours trying to save these 4 little duckies. They had no nets or anything so had to make their own little contraption, it didn't really work so after ages trying to get them, they finally had the tactic of getting them over to a corner so another two could bend over to the water to pick them up, this failed a number of times but eventually the 4 ducklings were saved while their mother was going crazy watching, they were put in a little bucket and released further up the river and reunited with mama

In an age where animals are slaughtered by the millions every day for the bellies of humans, it's nice to see such dedication of 6 firemen, who had probably eaten twice the weight of the ducklings in meat between them that day, for 4 little ducks. 6 men, over 4 hours rescue, oh and just as they finally rescued them, another fire truck came blasting down for backup, so 2 fire trucks parked at the side of the canal with at least 8 men, there's hope for us yet

    Wow

Actually I did help rescue a duck in Donegal Town.

Thought I was seeing things as it wandered out of the alley by Bank of Ireland, headed for the Diamond.. a drake actually.

No one else seemed to notice it and I wondered if I were seeing things..

So of course I headed it off and back towards the alley.

Joined by a few others... and then a cameraman appeared...

And we saved the critter of course from being creamed on the road.

There was the photo in the paper that week......
