As stated in title I have always been unable to receive tg4 & tv3 but have been able to receive rte 1 & 2 pretty good. I live quite close to Truskmore but unfortunately a small mountain blocks line of sight for me. Currently subscribe to sky to avail of the 4 Irish stations. Will dtt hold out any hope for me as I look at tg4 quite a bit but would happily get rid of sky.

Do you have 2 aerials for Truskmore? A VHF aerial is required for RTE 1 & 2 and a UHF aerial for TV3 & TG4.

Irish DTT is all UHF so this could be problematic when the analouge signal is turned off. On the other hand there is work ongoing to increace the height of the masts at Truskmore which might help ?

Maybe you can get RTE from another transmitter ?

You don't need line of sight for irish dtt on a local tx.
As long as you are not directly underneath the hill in the way,you should get a signal with the correct aerial and an amp if necessary.
    Once you get it,it's crystal.

We get kippure dtt down here in Arklow perfectly despite an entire mountain range being in the way for instance.
We also get mt leinster with no line of sight and a weak 3 rock which also pulls in a signal on dtt though it needs an amp.
Mt leinster and kippure dtt come in fine on a grid with no masthead amp.

In fact mt leinster group A channels come in fine on the back of presely group B aerials in Arklow which begs the question as to why it was chosen for an infill tx...
    Waste of money.

    Thanks Guys,
I should have mentioned in my original post that the installer did try an uhf aerial about 10 years ago with no success. He thought at the time that I may be able to pick up a signal from another transmitter (i think longford) but no success. While not directly at the bottom of the mountain I am pretty close to it. Black friar holds out a bit of hope for me, I'm planning on buying a new mpeg4 tv one of these days anyway and might get one of those internal aerials in argos just to see if I can get any type of signal out of it at all.
