    WIT Summer Ball 2010

This year the Social Care Society, Early Childhood Studies and Land Sciences have teamed up to be the hosts for the WIT Summer Ball 2010 next Wednesday, April 21st, in the Woodlands Hotel Waterford. The event kick starts at 8pm. Read on for more on this fantastic night with legends J90 and a special guest DJ. Oh and not forgetting the champagne reception and bar extension..

On your arrival, step out of your car onto the red carpet where a professional photographer will be awaiting your presence. As you walk up the red carpet, the flutter of his camera lens can be heard as he takes photographs of yourself and your partner. A champagne reception awaits you at the door as you prepare for what promises to be a very nice three course meal.

After the meal, step into the ballroom to hear one of Ireland's greatest 5 piece bands - J90. J90 are known to cover songs from the likes of Black Eyed Peas, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, The Killers, MGMT and even Cascada into their own distinctive style. J90 manage to fuse rock, hip hop, funk and pop into their show, delivering a perfect party experience to their fans.

When J90 have finished for the night, not to worry, the party still goes on. Thats right folks, this ball just keeps getting better. We have a very special guest DJ lined up to keep the party going late into the night with a bar extension until 2.30am.

Folks, this event has been well planned and organised. With a red carpet leading up to the champagne reception, professional photographer on the night (and hey, dirt cheap!), a gorgeous three course meal, the stunning J90 band, a bar extension with a special guest DJ -- this is going to be, we promise, a night to remember!

You thought the Law Ball was the event of the year? Just wait until the WIT Summer Ball - this event will beat all balls hands down and set a new standard! All in the one place - Woodlands Hotel. No moving from one hotel and when we promise a bar extension - we mean it!

Tickets are regularly on sale outside Spar on Cork Road Campus, outside the canteen on College St Campus and the WITSU offices for an amazing price of just €35! For other arrangements, PM myself for the orgainsers number. Tickets are going like damn hot cakes fresh from the bakers even so its First come, First served!

With a good few societies hosting what I took as an annual college wide event backed as the "final ball" of the year - I see no issues helping them out by plugging them here. The Biz Soc will always do well, even with little promotion. Its a yearly tradition for you guys with a huge backing. The text is just good marketing.

Major events are generally welcome. Its a different team running the WIT Ball each year, so I think its fair they are given a little more room to help promote the event. Thats not bias - thats being fair. The Biz Ball have it easy in comparison, to be fair lads.

As regards to Minto - he removed his posts before I even saw it. He can have it put back if he wishes.

Now, as always, if you or anybody else has some concerns with regards to moderation or the forum content - report it or contact the mods. Lets not derail this topic any further. :)

Im in 2nd year social care now and I recall in 1st year the social care society did NOTHING!!! Got onto them in the January about helping out and was more or less told we dont need your help go away.
Not the best society in my opinion. Summer ball tonight when essays etc are due for all the 2nd year social care students and last year the tickets were on sale during RAG week which seemed quite stupid to me. The committee seems like a closed group to me and alot of other people.
Ah well hopefully weel have a decent social care society sometime.

Are you a class rep for Social Care? Iv no idea who their committee is, but the ball was not organised by any one group - Social Care, Early Childhood Studies and Land Sciences Society all organised the event from what I understand. Thats about as much as I know how the event was organised :D

Though, its very common to have balls in colleges at this time of the year. WIT was and is not the only one who did it at this stage of the year. There are additional balls to come and were some only a week before this one. Just seems tradition. :)

Ya i am a class rep for social care. I know it seems tradition but is it tradition to decide to sell your tickets during RAG week when people have no money because they are spending it all?
    Just an observation thats all.

Were tickets for the ball on sale during RAG Week? Didn't know that.. Even so, they remained on sale right up until the night so im sure people managed to get money back and buy their tickets after RAG week.

No tickets for last years ball went on sale during RAG week when nobody had any money. Not a single person I know ended up going because they couldnt afford to with RAG week going on aswell.

Not sure about that, but that would be Social Studies issues and should be raised with them or the Clubs & Socs office.

The Early Childhood Society is new and I know little about the Land Sciences societies. It was a joint effort this year.
