Anyone heard anything on the incident at the biz ball?
The supposed story atm is that an unnamed girl decided to throw a bit of a fit and start annoying people. When the bouncer confronted her she spat in his face. This prompted the bouncers to leave.
Apparently they were allowed keep the place open til 3 if the bouncers agreed to stay, but this set them off, the bouncers left and the night had to end early at half 1.
Anybody got the full story? Or the right one?

    Mod Note:
What the hell is it with the business society and Boards? Its getting annoying now.

It was a student event and claims are being made against it by people who went. I can understand students frustration and see no problem with them voicing it out here. Iv heard several complaints about how it went but people still enjoyed themselves as most would when a group of students head out together.

All I will say is, that no individual is to be named. Also, if the business society cant act professional in any replies here without getting personal - then I would suggest they leave this topic.

Now im sure this will get deleted & me banned but its worth a shot anyway...

Firstly Scully...The Current post regarding the WIT Summer Ball Completely proves that you had a thing against the business society banning us everytime some body tried to promote the Biz Ball.

The above comment was inaccurate info, was putting the record straight.

At the end of the day, certain groups have tried their very best to screw the Biz Ball up this year, including WIT SU FACT.
Your Can't blame me for trying to put the record straight.
Any way.. dosent matter now, given the lack of planes flying that day .. the Event went off brilliant...
Goes to Show.. Student just want more.. :)

    Scully? Seriously? Jesus.

Right well firstly; your post isn't a breach of the charter so I don't see any reason why you would be banned and your post removed.

Secondly; I have nothing against any group or individual running any events for students. I think we do not have enough and I would encourage more to go about setting them up. Its not easy but a team effort and it will go well. Iv responded to your concern about the WIT Summer Ball in that thread, as its nothing to do with the Biz Ball.

Finally, when I refer to professionalism. I assume as a business society chairperson you would never, in business, call someone a "**** stirrer" or say "Didnt take you long". Is that not one of the first things you learn in Business? Or do they not teach common sense? Because while I would prefer you or any other individual set the record straight as you are entitled and as I would encourage you to - I would prefer you respected the posters who complain and not get rude or impersonal. I wont have it here.

Thats pretty much everything. Iv not noticed anybody trying to screw you over and I think I heard about the WITSU being in relation to a breach of rules in regards to event promotion. I think overall the Buss Soc. did pretty well to recover from the main act cancelling but there were issues and people have a right to discuss them as you have a right to respond.

That was a personal message I wrote, trying to attack me by refering to my position as Business Society President is pointless, but as a matter of fact yes if I was doing this professionaly & i felt somebody was stiring stuff about a project / event i was working on, yes i would call them that too their face, and not just hide behind a computer.

Who said anything about people trying to screw me over? I said the Biz ball.. hmmm...

You & Everybody eles know's right well she didnt cancel. Just incase you didnt get a chance to read the paper, all planes are haulted, she's based in London. Check her offical facebook page!!

Responding to this over PM as per Boards.ie Guidelines. This is completely off topic and is discussing a moderators requests. Ill clarify the issues I have with your presentation over PM and respond to your individual points in the above post also.

From this point onwards, lets get things back on track.

While I understand there are people out there who were not happy with last night its also my understanding many people were still happy. The main act on the night cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances and I think its fair to say the society recovered well. A reminder not to name the lady, or any other individuals, who may be at the center of allegations on their behavior on the night.

Lets just keep things fair on both sides of the fence folks. Thanks.

Heard from a lot of people that they had a very enjoyable evening. Werent overly impressed at the absence of Laura Whitmore but that couldnt be avoided. The BB guy who filled in was supposed to have been ok, But band was supposed to be the hit of the night, the student band.

Heard there was a bit of hassle but in fairness you're going to get that a everyball. Esp when there is free drink involved, people cant control themselves and get overly transmoglified and make a show of themselves.

One would assume you ignored yet another PM which seems to shed a completely different light on rights and wrongs of how these issues have been discussed. Your choice though, you have just bought yourself another ticket out of this forum.

I would appreciate that people posted with respect towards other users on this forum.

For non-WIT Students looking in on this; WIT has a great selection of societies which are run well and are very successful adding to the already great student life in Waterford.

Its never been an issue where societies have ignored feedback or have been disrespectful towards people who fund their activities. Nor has it happened in the business society before now and I assume the chairperson is just having a bad year and we can leave it at that. A fresh start can be had with the new committee next year.

Let the actions of others on this forum not discourage you from joining any society, including the Business Society which has always been highly respected in WIT, and most importantly - let it not shine a negative light on any application or consideration towards coming to WIT as a student.

I think the above poster has summed up the events pretty well.

The chairperson in question has worked for me in the past, as she is from my hometown, she is extremely hard working and very professional, i hope to work with her again in the future. Prob most switched on student i have ever worked with.
I work in the entertainment industry(among other things) and the biz soc came to me to help with having a proper line up as this was not done in wit(prob one or the few colleges in ireland with debs style entertainment at balls). Was not at event but feedback i got from The Forum, bands, dj's and people i know who attended the event was excellent.
I'm glad to see begrudgery is still alive and well in the south east and not much has changed since i was in WIT.
Sully you seem to have a flair for writing, maybe you should get more involved in real issues and real world publications, but try and act professional yourself, no need for personal digs its all very childish, i know the biz soc put a huge amount of work into this event, and it seems like you have a degree of bitterness towards them?

Thanks but I very much put my 'flare' into practice in the 'real life'. :)

No begrudgery in WIT or by me, but we do have a set of standards on Boards we expect people to abide with, and on a number of occasions the chairperson has disregarded these despite my attempts to communicate with her privately. I believe a similar issue arose with WITSU and the chairperson over advertising guideline breaches in the WIT and yet like I am, they are apparently out to get at the society.

Now, if you don't mind, id appreciate we did keep things on track here. Great the chairperson is getting good feedback and as has already been said there are complaints as always with such an event and its always good to take feedback in a positive light and not get personal or rude. That's the main point to take home from this thread so far.

Also a flare for editing ;) spelling not my strongest asset.
Know where you are coming from, moderator is a tough job.
Just expected to come on to read reports on the event was
a bit shocked to see everything else. I would gladly work with
biz soc again and would like to thank them all for their hard work,
made my job very very easy.

Having been involved in the organising of college balls before, i have seen first hand the time and effort required to organise one. I wish anyone doing it all the best, especially when a new radical idea was brought forward this year, i can only assume the time demand and the work load was even greater than previous years. So anyone who has an issue with how it was run should really walk a mile in the organisers shoes before making such critisms.

I will admit i was sceptical as to how it would work out when i first heard of having it in the forum, but from accounts i have heard it was a great night.

It is a shame if that story is true, While i agree with one of the comments above, you are always going to get that, i think its an aweful shame that people cant go to a ball and enjoy themselves without getting out of control and making a show of themselves. Hopefully thats not the case.

Well with all that being said I think we can agree on saying well done to the team for the night they put together. Great work on getting a replacement on such short notice. Wasn't there myself, but the overwhelming positive feedback speaks for itself!

Who won the King and Queen in the end?

Claire Hartley got the Queen vote anyway!

Sean Mcgee got the King and Claire Hartley got the Queen.

I was at the event and thought overall it was a good night, not as good as last years though.

Dinner in Dooley's was smashing and a lot better than what was on offer in the Woodlands last year.

Student band stole the show. Their rendition of Mumford and Sons little lion man was unreal.

Yes Cadets I thought, although were good, they should really have played more covers. Nobody knew any of their songs. The only 2 songs I knew were Rythm of the night and their own song Canada (because I Youtubed it a few weeks earlier). They never really got the crowd going.

Ray Sha/Shay was actually pretty good. Like a lot of people, disappointing not to see Laura Whitmore there but that wasn't anybody's fault and the Biz Soc done extremly well to get somebody at such short notice.

The Dancer was very poor in my opinion. Nobody even looked at her 1st act. The second striptease was a waste of 10 minutes and the third one, although looking cool, was a waste also. Just my thoughts, not sure if people would agree on them.

Where were all these drinks promotions that were supposed to be happening? I stopped drinking about 1am, and started drinking Ribenaas I had to be somewhere on the Friday. I paid €4 for a pint of Ribena.... I was shocked. I only noticed the price as I wasn't exactly locked and I only got one coin back from a fiver.

I didn't see any of the incident that got it closed early so I can't/won't comment on hear say.
