Insurance for Airsoft Site

Anyone know the price ranges of insurance for air soft site? (Indoor or outdoor) I realise that there's a lot of variables involved but I'm just looking for a rough estimate.

Or can you just make people sign a waiver before they play that removes liability from the site owner?

    Cheers

Think of whatever you consider an excessive number is and double it. Oh and you'll need to pay up front.

    That sounds about right.

... and if you ever need to call on it, it'll double the next year.
Once investigated an accident on a farm. Told farmer what I thought the guy who had the accident would end up getting in injury award. Farmer said he'd have been better off getting a shotgun, a bag of quick lime and a deep pit. Not a glimmer of humour in his eyes. I walked back to my car being very careful of things that make you trip and fall.

Talk to the IAA, info@irishairsoft.ie -- they have an insurer that can quote you, and can offer a discount if you're up the IAA standards.

He asked a simple enough question, why all the secrecy and negativity? You'd think the posters in this thread are trying to scare off anyone wanting to start up a new site. I was wondering the exact same thing because there's absolutely no sites in the NW and was thinking of setting one up in Leitrim/Sligo. I guess I'll know better than to ask for advise on boards in the future. Cheers lads.

Edit: Thanks Gerrowadat, I'll give the IAA a shout to get a bit of info.

Price depends on the terrain & location, chance of public encounter, how many players you list for a day, age of players, marshall to player ratio. Safety protocols in place. emergency plans in place, safety equipment used etc.

The minimum you should be looking at is 2k euro ex VAT @ 21%, the best thing to do is give a broker a ring to get a quotation.

just because people come to a site and sign so called 'disclaimers' doesnt mean you are in the clear if someone gets hurt. You have to have public liability insurance, full stop. If a case did go to court, these so called 'disclaimers' arent worth the page they are written on and would have no legal standing due to the fact that you are taking payment from people to play games on your site, that makes you liable.

Ah, i was wondering why a waiver wouldn't cover it. Cheers for the helpful replies Gerrowadat and Rhinocharge.

E-mailed a few brokers recommended by the IAA, just waiting on some responses.

Has anyone actually insured an airsoft site before? (and are willing to disclose the details of the cost:P)

SEACOM in wexford was in the region of 3700€ all in, public liability was raised to 2.6 million euro to cover the cost of a Coilte forest.
Standard insurance was costing 2600€ before the add on.
Qote for 11 acres of woodland, in mountainous region, for maximum capacity of 120 personnel.

    Feel free to Pm me.

Good for you mate, we've been working hard on opening a site in Sligo for the last few months, it hasn't been easy but we're nearly there and as you said the Northwest could do with a some sites.
Count me in when you open, wouldn't mind having another local place to play

    lads,

Without trying to pimp out by place of work - I work for a large multinational insurance broker. I'm not in the insurance business myself as I run the IT dept. Anyway, if you need advice, I can point you in the right direction of the right people. Feel free to PM me your details and I will pass them on and get someone to contact you.

Again, I am not trying to 'get business' but would gladly help airsofters/ sites in general with only a desire to see it work out for you.
