Audible Drumming in the Library

I thought the hand dryers were bad, but this just takes the cake.

The Labour Party conference-this-that-or-the-other is on over in Áras na Mac Léinn and they've decided to have a fire and dance show with drummers and loud music. The music is as clear as day in the library first and second floors and I'm not the only one who's noticed.

I'd call up to the SU but they're being blocked by the f*cking drummers

Ah, glad I didn't go into the library today then so!

Rather now than during exams, I suppose... :?

That's a disgrace, especially this time of year.

Funny enough you should mention headphones. I had my headphones in and had a white noise generator (simplynoise.com - a godsend to block out the sound of dryers and chit-char >_<) on full blast. I could still hear/feel the drumming.

As for the heat, I got on to Emmet, the SU Education Officer about that yesterday and he informed the Buildings Office. Turns out the radiators may have been on all this week... He said that today they would have the heaters off and the chiller machines on full blast. I noticed a considerable improvement today in fairness. First time I managed to get from the main door to a free desk without my shirt sticking to my back! :)

Yeah, the plugs situation is manic. There isn't enough desks with built-in plug sockets. There's only a few strung around the place.

Also, so I don't have to create another thread - does anyone else get driven mad by the constant sound of hand dryers turning on and off? They sound like feckin' drills!

I think the handdryers have been tuned down a bit recently?

Ah crap. Well this really sucks as my classroom in Aras Moyola where we study all day (and night) and have lectures is incredibly noisy as well because they are building the podiatry extension on the floor above. Banging drilling and general building noise outside the window(the scaffolding has blocked any chance of light) above us, in the stairwell right beside us..a nightmare. And now the library is out too:-( there are many things that irritate me about that library and yes, noisy hand dryers and lack of sockets are top of the list..
