I bought a new classic recently but I haven't had the chance to tax it yet as I work the same hours as the tax office. I can't apply for it online as I need a pin number and I really want to use it this weekend. Is there anything that can be done? I've often heard of mates being waved through checkpoints in their classics even without tax but I don't want to chance it. I heard they give you about 10 days grace while you wait on your tax book but its a good bit over that now.
    Thanks

post in a postal order to the value of 48 euro , made payable to your local motor tax office .
and make sure you have the details of your classic with it ! :)

ohh and if its the first time getting tax for it in this country ,
get an hour off and go down and get it taxed .
as you will need to fill out another form aswell if i remember right !

Thanks for that. I was in a different job the last time I taxed a classic so didn't have this problem.

Is it first time Irish tax or has it been taxed in this country before?

If first time then you can do it online ;) Not sure about the other!

If you're VRT'd can't you use the last 4 digits of your VIN number to do your tax online? Once you've got the logbook you should be in the system.

All that said - I'd never be too worried about not immediately having not yet paid a €48 tax bill in a classic - and I don't think the guards would be either. (Not in my experience anyway).

Whats the car and where are the pics? :)

    Spotted this online on motortax.ie
If you have recently become the owner of a previously taxed vehicle you cannot use this facility. In these circumstances you can only tax the vehicle online if you have received a motor tax renewal reminder notice incorporating a special PIN for its purpose.
Looks like I'll have to take some time off work to tax it.
Don't want to post pics up as I still have to drive the car home after having it away with me for the weekend. Maybe later ;)
