Course Cancellation?

    Hello fellow boards users,

I'm in my mid twenties and i'm currently in the final weeks of a college course (in public relations), yet have some doubts as to whether to complete it.

The course comprises of many different topics and exams and as the year has gone on, I have increasingly felt i'm out of my 'academic league' and struggling to manage all of them. This was further confirmed with last week's mock exams feedback - every result ranging from mediocre to poor.

I could study everyday for 3-4 hours before the real exams in a few weeks and yet go in and underachieve, despite what maybe others think i'm capable of.

Fortunately, I have a decent relationship with most teachers. So, should I break the ice and tell them I just can't do it, or take a different approach?

At the very least, I have some minor qualifications already in the bag!

P.S: I get on fairly well with other students, so this wouldn't be a factor as to my decision!

Complete it. End of story. A qualification you wont use is of far more value than direct evidence of being unable to finish out something you started.Put the head down "a little effort for a short while" and compelte the course. Take a break and then come back with a clear head and figure out what you want to do. If its any consolation everyone has these feelings at exam time.

Hang in there and complete it. You've obviously come a long way with it.... Far to long to give up now. You'll regret it forever if you don't finish it off. Maybe take a bit of time out this weekend and clear your head and gt stuck back in after the weekend. Don't give up!!:)

Definitely stick with it. I was in a similar situation and thinking along the same lines but I stuck with it. The qualification has been very beneficial on many occasions even though I now work in a different area.

I know exactly how you feel - it's very tough when there doesn't look to be an end in sight and you already feel like you're not getting on well.

But if you finish it you will be so proud of yourself, and rightly so. It's much easier to bow out but you'll be better for it if you stick with it, and down the line, you'll be happy you did.

Stay with it for the few weeks. Having completed the course may very well stand to you even if you do nothing related to it in the future. Dropping out at this late stage has no benefit.

Employers would rather see a completed college course on your CV, they won't care if you didn't like the course much or not.

Definitely stick with it till you finish. And regarding your concerns about how well you'll do - I'd suggest you share them with some of the teachers. Maybe they can advise you where to focus your revision on. At least you'll have shared the problem. For sure you're not the only one who's worried about whether they can get results.

So stick with it. Call in all the support you can. Good luck.
