I have a WDTV (normal version) and love it. It's a bit annoying to have to transfer files onto my hard drive before plugging it into the WDTV, so I was thinking of upgrading to the LIVE Version.

Can anyone tell me exactly how the live Version works? My tv is right beside my router, and my PC has a wireless connection. How do you go about setting up the WDTV to be able to stream movies from my pc?

Right now I have it nicely set up so that on my hard drive there are a few different directories for different content. I'm hoping it can be the same on the Live. Does it just map to the C drive etc - or can you specify what directories it sees on my pc?

    Thanks

I've just finished hooking up my WDTV Live (downstairs) to my PC (upstairs) and it was just a matter of sharing the directories (HD Movies, SD Movies, TV) plug it in and bingo bongo the jobs done! It also deteched that there was a new firmware and ask if I wanted to update it! :D

Wireless is good for SD movies but you'll have problems trying to watch HD moives over wireless. Here's what I did... I bought a 15 metre ethernet cable from ebay for 1.70 euros and drilled out through my wall and into the sitting room downstairs and plugged it into the WDTV Live and it works like a dream!

EDIT: Get the WDTV Live you won't regret it!
