I am trying to totally reset an iPod Classic. I am giving it to somebody and want totally restore to factory settings.

I have toggled the hold switch and held down the 'select' and 'menu' buttons until the apple logo appears. When I turn it back on nothing has changed, all my settings, music etc are still there.

    Any ideas?

Connect it to iTunes, turn off the sync options, and restore it through iTunes. All you arte doing is a reset which doesn't affect what is on the iPod.
