Opening Ports for ps3 help

HI,

Im having trouble with my online gameplay..ive looked all over the net to find help regarding oening ports to help play online . i can find how to do it up to a point but not actually how to open the ports that i need..im trying to open ports that are in the fifa 10 manual..

please can anyone help

That site got me out of a hole when I was with Irish Broadband.

was looking there..it doesnt have fifa 10 listed only fifa 09 but i guess i use the codes from the manual

I don't forward ports any more and have no problems whatsoever. Try turning on uPnP on both your router and PS3, if this doesn't help maybe check to see if your router firmware is up to date. If not, update it and try again.

Use PPPoE setting. This fixed it for me.

Username: eircom
Password: broadband1

i looked and upnp is enabled on my router but says "not avaailable" on my ps3when i check even when i have it on enabled, how did u fix this?

also what are pppoe settings?

Your router may need a firmware upgrade but, before you try that I found this guide for opening ports on your Netopia. Have you tried all this before?

thanks for the help...i tried that pppoe username and password and my fifa online is up and running again!!

one more question though..does running ps3 through pppoe use much extra in terms of downloading or uploading(sorry for the novice questions)

and also it says its running Nat 1..does that matter

Nat type 1 is the best as far as i remember. Allows connection to other Nat types while 2 and 3 are slightly restricted in who they can connect to. Not sure regarding pppoe although i would think not.
