    Hey,

    I would just like to know.... am I crazy for considering buying a 2003 model of the Citroen c3 Pluriel?? Obviously, Im considering it (I think theyre cute and theres a smaller engine in it than the car I had) and I mentioned it to my boyfriend and he said NO way... dont do it! .. as its the first year the car was produced (2003) and there are many reports about the convertible roofs having problems like leaking water in?? He said if I really wanted to (but he wouldnt!) to get a newer model, but the one Ive seen is a good price and it just happens to be 2003 model...


    Would I be crazy to go for it?
    Do the roofs on them really leak?
    or is this this just all hearsay...

    Any advice on this would be much appreciated...:D

    I think it was more a case that the public weren't ready for such vehicle when it came out, so all and any leaks were reported. I'd imagine in reality it's no leakier than any other convertible.

    Have a read of the HonestJohn review, http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/citroen/c3-pluriel-2003 , then take one for a drive. Check for damp spots, water stains on the interior trim and carpets, and rust.

    Yeah, ive read the review, and the vague-ness of the bad quality statement is a bit worrying? I could deal with rattling, as i suppose its to be expected!

    Ill really have to go drive one and see...

    Do you think the 2004/2005 models would have vast improvements on the forst one - 2003? or would it be much of a muchness??:confused:

    Your Top Gear Top Tip

    For test driving convertibles, or similar, always bring them through an automatic car wash. If you make it through that dry then you should be ok.

    The main problem with the roof on the C3 Pluriel is that there is nowehere to store the roof bars it you want to go out with the roof down.

    This truly isnt ideal in a country like Ireland as the weather changes so abruptly.

    Peugeot 206cc would be MUCH better suited convertibles -although I would reccomend buying a post-2003 model as the first roofs had leaking problems but these were fixed in 2003.

    Yeah i like the peugeot206cc but its so much more expensive....?? :(

    The Ka I could live with but the rest of those are awful things. The Micra CC is a shocking bad car in every way.

    OP , all cabrios leak....ALL

    I've seen BMW's leak, Mercs leak, Renaults leak, Opels leak. Whats more I've seen plenty of non convertables leak aswell ;)

    I know a lot about cabriolet soft tops

    The Citroen C3 cabby is a disaster
    It leaks, it is a bad design, it's expensive
    To repair. UK fitters charge £1000+ for
    Replacement of the top section alone!
    (that is if you can find someone to take
    The job on). They all leak!. If you have
    one, my condolences. If your gonna buy one,
    Get a raincoat, umbrella and a large
    bucket and sponge! Oh, Saab Ed....
    On the whole, cabrios do not leak, only
    The ones with cheap badly fitted replacement hoods
    And damaged or old rubber seals or broken
    Tension cables. Please....don't make rash generalisations
    That are not true!
