Any way to check an old license plate?

Hi,

Bit of a strange question. Was digging up the back garden and found an old license plate, the type that has a black background and white/silver (not sure which) letters/numbers.

I'm not sure if it's okay to post the license plate number? But the first 3 letters are FWI * * *.

I'm sure that it's fairly old but is there any way to check what vehicle this belonged to?

It's really just out of interest.

Keep digging the rest of the vehicle could be down there. type the reg into motorcheck.ie it might tell you what it is, also on the motortax.ie there is a vehicle transaction inquiry section , again enter the reg and see if it comes up.

I've just put in the reg of my first car, which was a car from 1981 (in the old 123 XYZ format) into www.cartell.ie and it correctly identified it.

From the looks of it, it's a Waterford plate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registration_plates_of_Ireland)

Not sure how it'll work if its a really old license plate but this website also allows you to check a cars history.....give it a lash & c if it gives you anything www.mywheels.ie
