    Hey all,

I'm wondering if it's possible to complete your diploma and work in the UK after completing the H Dip in Primary teaching with Hibernia?

Jobs are hard to come by here, so I think UK is the best option, if it's possible..

I would really appreciate any advice/information on this!

    Thanks smile.png

    Hi there
As far as I am aware the dip is an Irish qualification so therefore would have to be done in Ireland by our inspectorate.I do stand to be corrected on this.
However I think it is a very good idea to go to England, there are a large amount of posts there and very few here. This is cyclical though when I qualified 8 years ago there were loads of jobs.
As you have 5 years (although i think this may have risen due to lack of inspectors) to complete your dip you have plenty of time to go get experience and come back to get your dip.
I know from helping out at interview time that experience is one of the main factors in securing an interview so it will look great on your cv. Also it will really help you when you do do you dip, I did mine straight out of college and was totally clueless.
Best of luck with your decision.

You have to do the dip in Ireland. I'd go over to the UK if I was you, if you don't mind moving. It'd be a lot less soul-destryoing than subbing over here. As the other poster said, you'll have lots of experience coming back to do your dip here too. I don't know for sure, but I'd say they must have upped the time limit for doing the dip. The inspectors are putting people off doing their dip as they don't have time to do it in some areas, so between that and people not getting a long enough stint at subbing to complete it, I'd say they must have done something!

Edited to say - it's a lot easier to get a job when you have experience/a job too. If you get a permanent job in the UK, you could still do interviews for jobs in Ireland in August next year.
