    Hey all

Pardon my ignorance on the subject but I just got an LCD TV and apparently it has a built in free-view tuner.

How exactly would i go about getting free channels on this? .. I would assume i need a dish is that right?

Also, how exactly would i set that up and connect it to the TV to get it functioning properly?

    Thanks

Freeview is for digital terrestrial tv. Connect a tv aerial to it and do a channel scan. If you live on the east cost or border counties you may get the UK freeview channels with a decent aerial. If the tv has an mpeg4 tuner, you may get the Irish DTT test broadcasts.

Have a look on the terrestrial forum for more info.

Yeah its has DTV as an input option (DTV, TV, AV1/2, HDMI etc)

So all i need is a decent aerial?.. any recommendations?

Im living in north west Dublin and this is the TV in question

I think you will be hard pushed to get any of the UK free-view channels as you are too far from the border counties. Also there doesn't seem to be any mention of an MPEG4 tuner in this unit so unlikely that you will pick up the irish DTT.

If this is the case your best bet is a freesat reciever. (You still won't get RTE etc at present on the reciever) You'd have to stick with them on the analog.
