I would also love to know this. I had been thinking of the normal cost of hair updos say €50 per head and same again for each trial you get done. Then €25 per face for makeup- I mean that's what you pay at BT counters. BUT I'm probably totally wrong because as soon as people hear the word wedding they seem to feel it's ok to charge more.

Obviously I understand hair and makeup will cost more if you get it done at home in your house but if you go to a salon I'd be thinking 75-80 per person. Don't know anything about tan, can't decide if I'll go down that route for my wedding or not.

I had two days of celebrations  and on the first day I paid €90 for my trial, upstyle and makeup and I think €60 for my mam and sister. The next day I paid about €120 for me.

Take my advice, which was also given to me and I ignored it, cheapest definitely isn't best. I went to an ordinary salon on the first day and the makeup was, how shall I put it, on the hicky side of gick. I went home, took the foundation off which looked like it had been plastered on my face and did it again. The hair was ok in the sense that it stayed up. I still looked lovely but was a tad disappointed. My Mam looked a little old fashioned in her makeup and hair and we had to try tame it down when we got home.

The next day I went to a very reputable hair and makeup studio and there was absolutely no comparison. I kept staring in the mirror because I didn't recognise myself for all the right reasons.

For makeup definitely, definitely go to a makeup artist and not a beauty salon UNLESS the beauty salon has a trained makeup artist.

I'd estimate €100 per person and if it comes in less than that or you can negotiate a discount all the better but your hair and makeup are so important. You've spent a fortune on your dress and your BM's dresses and want to look fab so don't cut corners on hair and makeup.

I didn't get false tan done so I've no idea about prices.

That's my 2c, I was given this advice and I kind of ignored it and I have a wee regret about it now.

Thanks for that advice! I sort of did suspect it could be one of these things that you just have to pay a bit more than average if the makeup and hair are to really last well for the whole day and night!

I'm in Dublin and the average price i've got from makeup artists in Dublin is about 250 for 4 people including a trial for the bride.
I haven't sorted the hair yet!

That seems very reasonable since it includes the bride's trial.

I was thinking I wouldn't need makeup or hair trials for the bridesmaids- would that be a mistake I wonder??

I'm only doing a trial for myself. From speaking to other people thats what usually happens. I haven't heard of anyone who did a trial for the bridesmaids. Its a bit too pricey!
