No, totally diferent formats. You need a satellite receiver (DVB-S/S2). Chorus uses a cable receiver (DVB-C or analogue cable).

Wow, that was quick reply, thanks.

Will any SKY receiver work for me to get free-to-air channels, even an old one?

It must be a Sky Digital Receiver. (depends on your defenition of old but recievers from before sky went Digital are no use for UK FTA)

Freesat or FTA receivers can be got fairly cheaply.

OK, it looks I shouldn't look only for SKY receiver but rather Freesat receiver.
Should I consider receivers with recording options or do they require some special connection to dish? (I've got just a standard socket in my apartment)

if you want to record/pause etc you will need two cables from the dish to the receiver.

Advantages of sky boxes are that they can run magic eyes to allow you to change channel from another room. The eyes are quite cheap. Sky boxes also have 7 day programme guide(as do freesat, FTA don't). Sky box also allows some interactive services.

Freesat and sky boxes will also tune in new channels automatically. FTA wont. If a channel changes frequency sky box will auto update as will Freesat. FTA won't.

    Thanks, nice comparison.
I think I will get preowned sky box to make it cheaper.

Is there any major difference between
    bulky/square box like this one

and round shape box like this?

Basically the same, go for the €30 one as it's newer

    Cool.

Would I miss a lot of channels by not having any sky viewing card? I mean expired one, I don't want subscription anyway.

You'll get all the free to air channels without the card. All the ITV's and BBC's etc etc will also show up on the EPG when the card is removed.

There are a few channels that you need a card for but you'll have loads without it.

    ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!
