Fingal County Council Inspectors will be undertaking the fieldwork associated with the preparation of the Draft Register of Electors 2011/12 from June until the end August.

All Inspectors will have ID. The Inspectors will be calling in the evenings and on weekends.

The Inspectors will call to each property to establish who has moved in / out or turned 18 since the last register was published.

You will be asked to confirm the Name, Date of Birth and Citizenship details of each person in the property in which you reside.

You can only register to vote in the house in which you live.
Your landlord has no say in whether you are registered to vote at the property.
Your landlord should not be registered to vote at the property unless he/she lives there.
If you give the information,to the Inspector, at the door please tell your housemates/parents/brother/sister/son/daughter that you have done so in case that person wants to amend their details.

If you dont keep your voting records up to date chances are you will find that Polling Day you have no vote.

Would suggest they post forms to O.A.Ps. It is hard to gain access to some elderly peoples property as quite a few have their gates locked.

I take it they will inform local Gardái when they are in an area? It takes no time for word to spread to the scum people who terrorise and rob elderley people. We have had bogus callers in N.C.D in the not to distant past

The Council Inspectors wont ask to come in to your home.

You wont be asked for your bank account number

They wont try to charge you for the service of being registered.

They will give you a phone number to ring if you wish to confirm that the task is authorised.

The Council can contact the Community Gardai in advance.

Nursing homes are contacted in advance but as the Council doesnt know who is an OAP its not possible to post the forms rather than call to the property.
