HAVE YOU A iPHONE 3GS THATS JAILBROKEN & UNLOCKED ??

If you have a iPhone 3GS that is jailbroken and unlocked you really should use CYDIA to create a backup of your ECID shsh files .

This is probably the best way to backup your phone , remember if your phone crashes you may need to restore ....if you dont have this backup you may have to use iTunes (servers) to restore , which will render your current jailbreak and unlock USELESS !:eek:

If you have not already backed-up your ECID shsh on CYDIA ..DO IT NOW !

Go into CYDIA ..scroll down til you see this :


And hit "make my life easier" ...SIMPLE .


If you want to know if you have done it properly , and want to be sure CYDIA has your shsh files stored , then the next time you open CYDIA you will notice a note saying "this device has shsh files " etc etc

Then if you have problems in the future you can restore your phone and avoid having to use iTunes Server .
Here I will even do you a guide on how to restore using CYDIA's server


EDIT/ADDITION :
If you previously denied the request to "make my life easier " it has been reported that there is a hidden link on the CYDIA homepage to re-activate the request to "make my life easier" .
On the Cydia Homepage, if you scroll down to the bottom of the screen beneath the Credits/Thank You link there is text saying "For help with Cydia, Telesphoreo or developing...". The word 'developing' is reportedly a hidden link and if you tap on it, it restores the first screen so you can click on Make My Life Easier this time.

You must have previously hit the Go Away option.

I can't confirm this as I hit the Make Life Easier option ages ago and have shshs stored. If I hit the 'developing' link, nothing happens but a number of forums have claimed this works.

The 3G's hardware is different from the 3GS. You won't need to worry about saving the SHSH for the 3G, you'll always be able to downgrade that.

You must have denied the request during the Cydia install .
All is not lost .. You can create a copy yourself and store on your P.C using "umberella" then you can restore using "tinytss"
