    hey

Many moons ago someone started a tread about an app they thought was great, i didn't get it at the time but what i think it did was allow you to stream music from your pc to your iphone.

So for example if you plugged ur phone in the stereo down stairs you could stream the music from your pc to it over wifi.

does that ring a bell to anyone?

    thanks
    Oisin

    thanks for your help
but simplify media isnt letting people open new accounts and i tried orb before while its a great idea i found it a bit annoying and sluggish.

what i want to be able to do is stream it over wifi because i am going on a cruse down the Shannon so i will have very limited edge network never mind 3g.

the earphone jack is broken on my laptop so i want to be able to stream over an ad-hoc wireless connection (it works for the remote app so should work for streaming also) to my iphone that is siting in my speakers.

I use the Orb client and it works well. They've released a few updates so I'd try it again if I were you.

A quick google comes up with 'Remote Buddy'? Bit locked down in work though, so could be a red herring...

that seem to be just a remote to change things in mac programs no word of streaming over wifi

The only other ones I could find are these solutions

    http://www.tuaw.com/2007/10/18/dot-tunes-brings-wifi-streaming-to-iphone-and-ipod-touch/

And creating a webserver on your pc and stream to iPhone over wifi.
Prob handy enough to setup if you windows.

    http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/stream-your-entire-itunes-library-to-your-iphone-over-the-internet-mac-only/

Forward the ports on your router and you could stream over 3G if you wished.

Ah you're right. Other option I've used in past for wifi is hardware wifi client I got from Maplins which plugs into my hifi amp's AUX port and comes with a windows client which is compatible with WM player, Winamp etc. and streams music to stereo through Gizmo. You can control it from PC or it comes with a remote which works through the wifi client and can control WM player etc.

    Media Link Player Lite

    http://itunes.apple.com/ie/app/media-link-player-lite/id313455652?mt=8

Tis free, and appears to happily stream from my (pre-existing) upnp media server with zero configuration... (your mileage most certainly will vary)
